I´ve just got my brand new DSD a couple of days ago and I would like to change the firmware/OS from Pikes Peak to 1.2.1 since Pikes Peak is to bright in my system.
Unfortunately I didn´t read the how-to closely enough because I bought a SD card with 8 GB and now realized it says only 2 GB card will be accepted. I then looked at the SD card delivered with the machine (I didn´t want to use that because I wanted to leave everything like from the factory) and it has 4 GB on it.
So what´s right? Will the DSD accept 4 GB or even 8 GB cards?
PS Audio applications require that the SD memory card be formatted using FAT16. Larger than 4GB SD cards are formatted FAT32 (which is also the Windows default for larger cards). [Edit: see below for the most accurate info on formatting]
Many have no issue using larger cards as long as they are formatted correctly.
Also, make sure the small slider switch is set to “unlock” so you can write to the card, be sure to unzip the files before putting them on the card, and be sure to insert the card with the metal contacts facing up (to many people this seems upside down).
There is the “How To” that Kai found, with the link to a formatting program for SD cards. There is also a FAQ here with more info but no mention of the formatter. And, finally, is it only the DS or do earlier PSA products work with larger cards? I had always understood they didn’t. Paul/Dennis, I suggest combining the How To and the FAQ and updating; this issue just keeps coming up.
I posted all this information in the How to and FAQ section a while back. But it seems to be gone in both places. I will try to get it reposted tomorrow.

I agree. It can be confusing to many of us. And those pesky 2GB cards are get tin harder and harder to find.
