This is the first one of Carla’s which I bought a couple of decades ago. It is superb especially cut 2. I have bought many of her albums since. RIP

I recently learned she wrote all of the music for and performed on Nick Mason’s first solo album Fictitious Sports. Not really my thing, but good trivia all the same. Her most recent three trio albums for ECM are my favorites of all of her work.
Especially if this is the first time you are aware of Carla Bley.
One of my favorites. It has Paolo Fresu on it which makes it even better for me.

A great one, and I was just about to post it. Paolo Fresu is in especially fine form.
I was remiss in not mentioning her remarkable artistry as an arranger.
