ALAC 24 bit 96 khz

Hi Fellas,

just wanted to know if the new DSD DAC will decode even hi rez ALAC files at 24 bit 96khz.

The PWD MK2 won’t… so before upgrading…i wanted to be sure.

Only if you have a Bridge installed. The DAC does not decode any compressed file, like ALAC, on its own. You can handle the decompression of the file in the computer or the Bridge, if it is installed, but not directly into the DAC.

It plays the ones that were converted to ALAC for DoP. I’ll import a CD in ALAC now and check.

EDIT: HA! Well, there’s the definitive answer.

The bridge I does not support 24 bit ALAC. The bridge II does.

yes i have the Bridge 1 installed and it won’t…that’s why i asked if the new one does it…

Dear Paul,

i also would like to ask for your help, cause in italy the distributor MPI ELECTRONICS ( won’t accept the trad in program for the DSD KIT.

What should i do?

I will be in New York for Holidays from 30th of May till 9th of June 2015…if can be helpfull

Hi Fabio and I apologize for I was wrong. Dennis corrected me. The new Bridge II, due out this summer, will handle 24 bit ALAC.

There’s not much I can do about distributors. What trade in did you have in mind? We never did a trade in for kits. We did a trade in for PWD to help buy a new DS, but that too is over now.

Dear Paul,

at least i wanted to buy the do it yourself DSD KIT so i can upgrade the DAC.

The Italian Distributor never imported the DSD KIT…so like always…italian customers can go to hell

Am i able to buy direcly from PS Audio?
