I’ve thought of trying some on the side and rear walls. They do great in the back wall corners.
With your room, more could be more better!
I can tell you on a more expensive level the Stealth PC’s I’m borrowing from you have completely smoothed out the bass and have removed a lot of boominess with out the C214’s. The bass plays louder and tighter with much more clarity. The C214’s are more affordable then a full loom of Stealth PC’s and maybe a better solution?
Choice of a product specific to tame the issue or a component that lessens the problem by just being a better reproducer. It’s great when the latter happens.
One of the reasons my cheapie MG 1.7’s stayed so long was things that I thought might be room and placement issues were lessened by better gear.
Are all the cords in the system now, or is your evaluation a one at a time affair?
The they are all in. I’ve had less time then I would’ve liked with the weather and work, but I have had some quality time and I will post my impressions on the stealth power cable thread soon.
To get back on track I’m a huge fan of MBL!!
There seems to be more MBL fans than JL Audio ones
That is not a lot of owners of MBL speakers: four of them so far, of which two in Europe and two in the US.
There seems to be a lot more Wilson owners on the forum.
Of course, this is a US based forum so it is not completely surprising.
But still ?
Surprisingly, all of the MBL owners have the top 2 models while there are 6 models in total.
IME MBL can be a difficult accomodation with its polarizing looks. Personally I would have enjoyed having them in home but was over ruled, which in general is rare. Also over ruled on Estelon Yb speakers, again a rather polarizing aesthetic. Ultimately brought home a pair of Wilson Sabrina X. The only comment I received was sounds nice.
Curious if you other MBL 101E owners configure your crossover like mine?
I love them this way and coupled to the REL subwoofers!
Not sure I understand you well, but I also bi-wire them.
My JL Audios only allow a line level input from the preamp, so a high level connection from the amp is out.
It is a unique speaker that is not for everyone. Also wondering if there are fewer married guys as a percentage that dont have to deal with a spousal factor. I acquired all my MBL gear before I got engaged. Timing is everything
Never looked into using jumpers instead of the factory clips - hmmmmmm??
I seem to recall the manual saying some of the settings are determined if you use solid state or tube amplification…
I’ve found the key to marital happiness is separation…having your system in a dedicated room, unencumbered by conflicting needs or aesthetics…an audio cave.
You can even share this space, on invitation, as long as there is no talking or encroaching on the sweet spot.
Wait, wut?
Never mind.
We tried all kinds of brands to replace our beloved B&W 800D2s.
B&W, Piega, Vivid, Wilson (Sasha’s), etc.
For us, the MBLs were the clear winner, with the Wilson’s second, not too far behind.
But neither crushed the 800D2. The law of marginal asymptotic decreasing returns, I guess.
I am lucky that my wife likes the sound AND the look, as long as they are black AND with the grilles on. I can live with that .
It’s even better when there’s a love seat sized seating and one’s wife actually joins one in the dedicated space to listen to music. Together.
Bah! Just kidding. Sharing is cool too.
I delayed the delivery. Life complications so should be there this Friday when they arrive
