"In Fluke, myth-shattering social scientist Brian Klaas takes a deep-dive into the phenomenon of random chance and the chaos it can sow, taking aim at most people’s neat and tidy version of reality. The book’s argument is that we willfully ignore a bewildering truth: but for a few small changes, our lives—and our societies—could be radically different.
Drawing on social science, chaos theory, history, evolutionary biology, and philosophy, Klaas provides a brilliantly fresh look at why things happen—all while providing mind-bending lessons on how we can live smarter, be happier, and lead more fulfilling lives."
The Future Is Peace: A Shared Journey Across the Holy Land
"Palestinian Aziz Abu Sarah and Israeli Maoz Inon forged a bond of brotherhood when the world expected them to be enemies. Both have lost family to the conflict. Both have known the bitterness of righteous anger. Yet, they chose a different path.
In The Future Is Peace, Sarah and Inon take readers on a transformative weeklong journey across a sacred and bloodstained land. Facing competing narratives, they explore how compassion and unity can pull humanity back from the precipice of blind hatred.
Nick Hornby does a fine job addressing our obsessions, character flaws, and relationships. High Fidelity is a fun and quick read. John Cusak covered the book with a Chicago based film; many of his referenced haunts were mine as well.
I’m a slow read but this is another wife recommended hand me down we both managed to read within one library loan period.

Another wife hand me down library book. She’s really good at picking out winners. This is just a well written feel good book.
I’m only half way through but wanted to share one of The Pearls of Wisdom attributed to various characters that head every chapter that cracked me up.
