Going to start this gem soon. If you know 'em you are OK with me. If you don’t know 'em… why not?

When I saw my daughter for Father’s Day she brought me some books including this one. I’ve read it years ago but figured why not?

Realized this was a Cornell Woolrich (unfinished, completed by Lawrence Block) I had not read before. . . . Woolrich fascinates me as a writer.

After more than a month of waiting, it finally arrived. Looking forward to digging into a well-reported, behind-the-scenes account of one of the most consequential periods in modern America. Time to start reading.

I wish I had this book when I was 20

it is focusing on the right thing and discard the superficial

How is that one Lon? Bart is an acquaintance of mine (him being a good friend of one of my best friends and a local denizen here - newly retired too). I read his first (non academic) book and it was more entertaining than I ever thought the subject matter could be.

I’m enjoying it. Biblical texts have long fascinated me and I’m learning quite a bit. It’s one of the books I wish I could share with my Dad (gone now four years)–we had that interest in common. Unlike him. . . I can’t read the texts in ancient Greek!

E book borrowed from the library. After a lot of initial demand wait times are down.
Criticisms key on the author’s focus on the uglier aspects of history. I understand the criticism but value narratives that serve to counter balance those choosing to ignore or distort history. I’ve given up on some that became repetitive. This is not one of them. It’s not a page burner but engaging enough.

Well that was fun.

For this one, somehow the “thumb up” emoji seems the appropriate response
I thoroughly enjoyed it back when …

Wow, It’s been decades since I read that seriously entertaining and clever series of Douglas Adams’ books. I still carry a towel and wear my Jo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensing sunglasses whilst hitching a ride on the Heart of Gold to dinner at Milliway’s. Why would I do this? 42.

Example after example after example. The book could have been 3 pages long.
