I’m happy for you, @lonson !
Thanks for the tip with the SDFBs & graphene sluggos. Awesome and fundamental improvement! I bought three, as well as two of the Mainstream devices which were also very worthwhile. I feel somewhat guilty that I have a really lovely sounding system but still hankering for more, like the addiction it is. Two sets of Fidelium XLRs are coming next. I’ll have to take a breather as I’ve also added BACCH4Mac this year. I can’t recall if you have that, but that really is a game changer upgrade. In the longer term, I hanker for an MU2, which will render one set of the XLRs redundant, and a Muon Pro. I might just “be there” by then… maybe
I’m glad you found joy in the SDFB and the Graphene Sluggos. I don’t have BACCH and don’t hanker for it. . . something about it just gives me pause. And I have ZERO interest in streaming, and Gryphon Audio products are way out of my financial reach. I’m not wanting to upset the balance I have now and spoil this deep satisfaction.
Don’t do streaming is a smart move, because there is an infinite of improvement could be made (and needed)
Vince and I have turned Luca into a streaming monster. He wants to redo his listening room (again) to hide all his LPs soon.
I read my previous post and I had to laugh, because I did get a new streamer (4th in three year), and a new cable is coming. Nowhere back in May that I knew I will replace P15 with this PowerZone thing yet🙄
I always love my system. But I’m plagued by curiosity and restlessness.
Well said RonP. Having the discipline to stick to a plan and not chase every new idea has been my path to satisfaction. Meaningful upgrades are supported by having many local dealers in my area to audition equipment. That and hearing friends systems outside the forum.
Following my downsizing plan continues to pay off, and I was most content with my previous system.
Exactly, I was a so happy vinyl guy before Vince and Donald ruined my life!
To be clear: my (second) room refurbishment I’m planning, will keep all my beloved LPs intact, just collected in another place!
Once you get your next MSB upgrades, LPs will not see their day light anymore. ![]()
My system seems nice. I buy a lot of vinyl. The most recent purchases have been wonderful. The PZ kicks vinyl up many unlooked for notches. Weird.
If I was a manufacturer of hi fi gizmos and I had the resources to do it, my curiosity would force me to buy a PZ and cut it open.
I have been around High End Cable manufactures a long time. And my greatest fear is always that when I open up a special cable or device I find inexpensive Belden wire inside. This actually has occurred so many times to me I just can’t stand the thought of it happening again! So yeah, inside my Powerzone I found approximately nine dollars worth of 32 ga Belden wire. It looked like it had been used and abused before getting put inside.
But it works!!!
I doubt it’s the wires inside it that make it do the voodoo that it do do.
It was the fuses wrapped around and taped to the wires that make it sound so good.
For any power cord under $5k, I found the plugs are as important, and probably more important than the wires inside. Every time I replaced the cheap plugs with Furutech if50 NCF on old cords, the impact was bigger on SQ than the cords themselves.
That’s more true on the $100 cords from AliExpress. In fact you should replace plugs on them. One time I disassembled a Odin2 cord, and found the ground wire was not even connected.
the wires are loose in another one too.
This plug upgrade maybe true for expensive cords too, but I don’t want to void the warranty. Plus, I will never be able to sell it in future for 1/10 of what I paid.
If your experience made you a believer in good plugs, you should be happy to know that the PZ sports Furutech GTX receptacles.
That will match well with my wall receptacle and plate, in addition to plugs😁
The Furutech NCF connectors will contribute a lot to the sound of the PZ.
Yes. How? By staying away from this forum ![]()
