Audioquest Diamond RJ/E, USB & HDMI in my setup (no Dragons -yet).
Took the effort to remove the boxes from the cables without disconnecting…no idea how or why but it works out well over here. Thx

I´m a believer now too with this tweak of disconnecting DBS box from the cable. First I was like what, really? but it is very obvious to me now- more everything and much, much better.
WTF?? Audioquest??
Need to listen more Thanks @frankvisser
Well since it is an active RF suppression circuit as well as a Insulation Dielectric charge inducer, per Garth Powell, it makes sense. I wouldn’t think the low draw form batteries would not matter but could be that too. I will try it first DrAgon HDMI then the Dragon HC power cord. How much distance is recommended?
I will try sliding some 3M AB7050HF absorber between the box and cords. I have some leftover after my P20 mod.
I don’t think it was disconnected I think he just separated it from the Velcro attaching it to the wire itself.
Can somebody show a picture of what they are disconnecting?
If I’m not mistaken @frankvisser separated the DBS from the cable so they are not making contact. He didn’t unplug the DBS. I could be wrong in my assumption tho!
Here Here audiophilehi !!
I have some leftover 3M pieces too. It will be interesting if that works on DBS box.
My BHK Pre is acting up. The right channel starts developing a popping sound when changing volume. Time to contact PSA support.
Did you check the tubes?
Good point, I will change tomorrow. It could well be the cause.
I had that problem with my old tubed preamp before. I sprayed the attenuators down with some contact cleaner and fixed the problem. It was ladder resister type. The contacts got dirty. Don’t know about the BHK Pre though.
That’s a sure sign that tubes are failing. Try new tubes first and don’t reverse the Tubes to test as the popping can cause a surge to your amps and speakers.
Here is the Velcro straps on the back. I also believe this is what @frankvisser meant by separating the DBS from the cable.
This is the DBS completely unplugged.
You are right!
I couldn’t wait till tomorrow. Thanks! Problem solved
Paul172,
We want to mimic the 2nd picture with the DBS separated from the cable but still plugged in, correct ??
Yes. I believe that what @frankvisser was saying. We will have to wait for Frank to let us know. I’m trying it now. Not sure if I’m hearing a difference.
Always start with the basics!
I also try with the box away from the cable. Seems less harsh on some recordings, but also lose a bit of immediacy. Have to try more recordings, but so far I like the box attached to the cable a bit more.
One thing that has become very evident with the Dragon 48 is the difference between DSD and PCM is much more noticeable on my system with DSD sounding superior for sure! I’ve compared albums on Qobuz to the DSD files I have and the DSD is more natural and smooth. More musical is the catch phrase.
