The exhibitor list gave no mention or even a clue. I wonder why? Last minute add possibly? Not that Steve Deckert needs additional orders.
My wife and I are currently having a discussion regarding Pacific Audio Fest June 23-25. Nothing firmed up yet, but maybe. My knee is in recovery mode after Axpona, and an ill advised 3 mile walk in Chicago Sunday, rather foolish.
When in the Airies Cerat room I inquired about the shoot-out and he acknowledged it but was not sponsoring it. Didn’t have much additional information.
Not being a Magico fan I side stepped many of their rooms, so uncertain as which one Al is holding up as Best Sound at Show.
I made reference to my own feelings on Magico, but I think their S3 Mk2 is their best speaker for the dollar right now. To me they’re a better value than the M2. And like Al I’m no real Magico fan.
It was the Cat room Nirvana C I believe and I agree. I believe it was more to do the Cat gear than the Magico’s. If there was Martin Logan CLX’s with Rel No. 25’s it would have sounded better! Lol. Just kidding but that room had the deepest soundstage and the most realistic you are there sound. Class A tubes!
Thanks Paul, missed that one completely. Too bad as I am certain I would have enjoyed it. Yes they should have stepped up their game in the CAT room with CLX/REL/Dragon.
I talked with Ken, the top man at CAT, for 45 minutes. The speakers were chosen to prove even with those speakers they could create excellent sound. One year they chose KEF Blades to make the point.
I believe!
They didn’t need the CLX/No. 25 combo then.
No, this was announced at Decware forums a month or more in advance. It was Wathen’s room, Decware was only participating by loaning two amps to showcase Wathen’s tubes and speakers.
Are you sure that was ONLY a 45 minute discussion??? LOL
That explains it then. CAT would usually never go with something like a Magico. They normally use something like a TIDAL when they really want to go all out.
Good for those who are on the Decware Forums, which I am not. No biggie.
Thanks
Preposterously good sounding little speakers. Boenicke
I’m also a big fan of the Technics 1000 turntable.
I only post that to indicate the Wathen room was not a last minute addition.
I REALLY liked this room
Many exhibitors had last minute changes that were not reflected in the Exhibitors List of Featured Components provided prior to and handed out at Axpona. The Wathen entry in the list provided no mention of components, so those that discovered the Decware amplifier stumbled in upon it. Just sayin’, and I do appreciate you getting back. Several of us would have made a special effort to attend the Wathen exhibit had we known. Missed opportunity all around. Axpona is an overwhelming experience, so it can be rather easy to miss a room here and there. For me I had a plan, sort of at least. My focus was upper floors, meeting exhibitors and dealers I do trade with, and making new friends. Steered clear of first floor demos for the most part, and most displays below the 9th floor in general. All plans have their limits.
