I pass this year, visiting F&F in Edinburgh for a bit. Heading out on April 12.
Glad to learn you have recovered from back surgery.
Glad you posted this yesterday and not today, being April 1.
I hoped you posted this today instead of yesterday.
I elected to take the advice received at HSS in NYC and declined surgery.
Hope all works out for the best.
A shoutout to those coming to the show. PSI Audio will be exhibiting for the first time in
Rm 1139. They will be showing the C214 active bass trap, Heritage 3 active floor standing
three-way, and A17 2-way near field monitor.
Check their website for more details.
You know my love for the C214 and continue to promote and sell them. I will update all if tariff shenanigans will affect their pricing.
As for the speakers, they have a stellar reputation in the pro industry as killer monitors that have in-house drivers and cabinets that feature neutrality and accuracy above all.
The Heritage3 follows in that vein with a more living room friendly enclosure.
Hope to see you at the show.
See you there!
Anyone interested in a group breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Me! My only no-can-do is Friday dinner time. I’m one of 25 VIPs going to an off site Hear This / Westminster Labs event. Other than that I’m good starting Thursday afternoon.
Sounds like Friday we go back to the Mexican restaurant.
We’ll have to do another time. Keep your phone in your pocket this time!!!
No Axpona 2025 for me, but my daughter suggested this upon our visit, as the music is fine and whiskey pours freely. Enjoy Axpona 2025!
So how are we going to decide on day, time, and place?
Let’s talk when we get there.
for sure
We’ll wait and see what it’s actually like. I got an early press release that Morel is going to be debuting the Supremo Special Edition, an active component car speaker system.
So that leaves the door open for other possible exhibitors who similarly will bring their best components in custom builds.
I tend to think that either the high-SPL, booming-bass exhibitors won’t be permitted to display, or there’s no limitation and a few will sneak in anyway and ruin it for everyone.
I’ll be spending a little time there myself, as I’m doing a little show coverage this year. I haven’t been to a car audio dealer in decades (back before the high-SPL and mega-boom bass nonsense started), so if they have truly high-end systems there that sound musical, this could be a net positive for the show.
I do agree that it really doesn’t quite belong at a home audio show, but then again, the days of aftermarket car audio are dying off, since the factory-installed systems are so integrated into the vehicles now that it makes even something like speaker upgrades difficult.
There’s also the tired argument that we can’t get the same sound in a car that we get at home, but that’s not the point of car audio. If I have to listen to music on the car on lengthy road trips, it should sound as good as it can.
Did @Paul drop a hint on what we may be introduced to Friday? I just watched his latest video and I agree if you can’t do the sub crawl stack them subs!! Yes! A fellow sub stacking believer! Lol
I have no clue myself–we’ll all find out Friday at 10am. I tend to head to the top floor prior to the show opening (since the elevators are so congested), but I might stick around and wait for the announcement. I don’t think a livestream is possible, but I might post it after the fact on my own Instagram account as a photo + text, or video (where I’ll be dropping a few nuggets from the show) provided I can tap into reliable WiFi.
I won’t be leaving Schaumburg on this trip (other than when I drive home), but I owe my better half a mug from the Redhead Piano Bar (as the result of an unfortunate dishwasher incident) one of these years. She went to the Redhead Days gathering several years ago with her friend.
A fun place, but with construction season in full swing the drive in to the Redhead Piano Bar on Ontario is brutal.
