I am in the market for the best HiFi streamer and would appreciate some advice before making a purchase. My main priorities are sound quality, ease of use, and compatibility with high-end audio systems, especially for streaming services. I also want a device that supports high-resolution audio formats.
After reviewing expert opinions from sources like What Hi-Fi, The Verge, and Audio Science Review, two models consistently stand out:
I am having trouble deciding which one would best suit my needs. I mostly listen to lossless and high-res audio and want a device that offers excellent sound quality, smooth user experience, and good integration with other smart home devices. My budget is flexible, but I’m looking for the best value in terms of performance and longevity.
So, which one would you recommend? Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.
Between the two the Blue Sound Node 130 would be my choice. Highly reliable, great user interface and reasonable sound quality. I had a BlueSound Node for casual listening and never had a problem. Depending on budget the following provide significantly better sonics and user interface: Grimm MU1 and Innuos PULSAR.
I do not own any of those devices but wanted to point out that the linked Cambridge AXC35 is a CD player. I may be wrong but it does not look like it has any streaming capabilities.
I think a lot of the streamer experience has to do with the user interface. I find that Innuos has a great interface; I also own a Wiim product and that interface is also very good.
Of course in the context of everything else in the system either the BSN or Cambridge Audio streamers can sound fabulous. I have and very much like the Vault2i. The interface is top notch and includes native support of Radio Paradise which is my goto for background and selective critical listening. That said I’m much less critical than many.
Besides the WiiM you might also consider an Eversolo product such as the DMP A6 if your budget allows. I also have an A8 that I like real well as a streaming DAC.
