I also understand, there are other routes to consider. Main goal is to help eachother out. Hopefully this will be achieved in short term.

After a suggestion by @Paul (thanks Paul !), I’ve been over today at my PS Audio distributor to check in on the I2S DSD256 issue. Well, luckily it’s not the MK2 dac. Using the Rose app, JRiver and the PS Audio Airlens (with JRiver and Roon), they all played DSD256 flawlessly.
When playing these DSD256 files through Roon over the I2S cable to the Rose, there was that downsampling to DSD64 again!
Therefore, the issue lies with either Rose or Roon, or both. Given RS130 is an upmarket product, this issue is something that needs to be fixed in due course.
Likely something that’s been overseen during the certification process? I’ll call on Roon and Rose to have this fixed and hopefully shortly.
