Bridge II Album Art Issue STILL not solved?

I don’t have playlists that swap back and forth between PCM and DSD so can’t tell you. In fact making playlists doesn’t really interest me that much. I pick albums I want to listen to and play them from start to finish. The only deviation may be one of the curated playlists created by Tidal or Qobuz. Since I have the iPad right beside me I don’t need the small screen on the other side of the room to know what’s playing. I’ve never owned a previous DAC or Streamer with a screen that displayed album art and it was not a feature I considered when buying the DS Sr. It’s sound is what mattered to me. And while Control HD doesn’t not work to the level of the Lumin app or Lightning DS once you get used to it and with the improvements they have made the last three years it does it’s job.

I think I remember being told that you need to leave the SD card in to be able to see the artwork. Just a thought.

Can you contact us and we’ll figure this out for you? It does depend on you having a properly formatted SD card (which it sounds like you do) and then it depends on the server and control setup. Mark or TJ can help you get there. The unit does display cover art through the bridge. They can give you a more definitve answer.

My bridge2 displays art work perfectly, it’s the loud bursts of distortion that led me to replace it with an Auralic Aries G2. The G2 is a step up in sound quality, but, it is not without it’s own flaws, it loses connection with the internet every hour or so, the bridge was stable as can be.

Just a suggestion, try a fixed IP on the G2. Pick an IP at the higher end of the range. I allocated 50 IP address outside of the DHCP range for fixed IPs. You can usually assign the IP at your router using the device’s MAC address. Works like a charm.

@amsco15, thank you for the insight. I’ll try and figure that out, I’m computer illiterate!

That’s what I had to do with the Aries and the Mini.

I gave up on solving the DirectStream DAC missing album art issue…

Then, after several failed attempts to upgrade the firmware to Windom, I wondered if the DirectStream DAC did not like my SD card. So, I removed the SanDisk 2GB Class 4 SD Card and grabbed the PS Audio 4GB shipping SD card. I installed the Windom firmware files to that SD card, power cycled the DAC and this time the unit upgraded! Ah ha! Progress!

I then fired up Roon and played the “Paul’s Picks” playlist. This playlist, in my case, is a mixture of streaming and local tracks. Sure enough, the album art started working!

So, if you are having trouble with album art on the DirectStream DAC, use the shipping SD card (or possibly the same brand). The DAC is finicky. 🤷🏽

Yours,

Byrdman

Note: Windom does not support album art with Qobuz. Just Tidal and local files.

Qobuz artwork IS supported. Unfortunately, my artwork works sometimes and quits at random intervals. I have the SD card in place and its from PS Audio, so I assume its adequate. If I miss the artwork, a hard re-boot restores it for awhile.

…and Windom sounds very good!

Just installed the Bridge 2 and setup was very simple but didn’t have album art at first. Then noticed I needed an SD card installed and that fixed it. Hope this remains reliable. I’m even using the crappy mConnect on my iPhone until my Fire tablet arrives this afternoon. Not bad so far. Will probably prefer the tablet just for display size and we’ll see how BubbleUPnP compares. And the SQ is excellent as long as I don’t overwhelm my DSL network (like uploading huge images here!)
