@jazznut, thanks for your response. I recently moved to an Aries G2 streamer, and noticed my dac seems to run cooler. I am curious if that could be part of the reason the G2 has superior SQ.
I don’t think the cooler DAC is the reason… but you could try if you get the same result when you play uncompressed on both units…or check if the SW settings of your library SW are the same for both units.
All of my local server files are WAV. Aries sounds quite a bit better, on all types of files.
the B2 does draw power from DSD. B2 will contribute part of the heat generated
Any Updates for bridge II please,Paul?
I guess that update has been put on the back burner!
Not back burner, just not under psa’s control as it’s down to buggy software written by another company
So you’re saying if Converse does not do it,we PS Audio customers have to suffer?
Can’t listen to 24/96/192 PCM files because I’m afraid to damage my fragile Lowther drivers.Scratchy noise at the end when resolution changed is scary…
FWIW, it is my understanding that it (the fix) is a matter of when, not if. Paul has noted that this is a collaboration with an outside software firm on numerous occasions. The point is, it is a stated priority for PSA but they are not doing most (if not all) of the work themselves.
Cheers.
I intermittently experience the same noise during encoding changes. Depending on listening volume, concerns for speaker safety are warranted. I switched to the Toslink interface and have yet to experience the issue again. I’m thinking of selling my Bridge II and pursuing an I2S solution. I have lost what little faith I had in Converse ever fixing it.
I bought DSJ because of one box solution…
If I would knew about such a “great” support…
Paul keep promise periodically but don’t quite deliver.
PS Audio still testing,I guess.
This stuff has been going to be fixed for a couple years now. Paul recently mentioned to remind him to never use a third party software provider again. It’s simply out of PS Audio’s hands. Doesn’t make it right, but that’s what is.
To my ears, the Bridge 2 isn’t that great to start with. I bought with the notion of having the DSJ have an UltraRendu built in. Having gone the I2S route, I wish I could remove the Bridge from my DSJ just so it wouldn’t get so hot.
And for all the Roon users, Roon sounds so much better with HQPlayer, and HQP does not work with the Bridge. If I were a Senior owner, I wouldn’t bother with the Bridge at all but rather look to other solutions like the UltraRendu that come from competent, proven companies in which that’s their focus and area of expertise.
Bridge 2 doesn’t work with Audirvana either, ugh.
I happen to love the sound out of my DSJ, its a great DAC. I’m happy I only paid $2000 for it, which makes feel better about the Bridge II being so disappointing. If I had paid $4000, I’d be upset.
Guys,
I’d guess (Given previous great customer service) that there may be a trade in Bridge 2 to 3?
Don’t know of course but Bridge 3 is all PS Audio, so should be very much improved.
For myself, I’ve had Bridge 2 networking issues, so tend to use my modded Oppo 203 with i2s card as my Roon endpoint into my DS.
Sounds great.
Temporary measure until Octave server drops, as I’m missing out on native DSD and anything above 24/192.
(Not that THAT or MQA matters to me)
Paul said if bridge 3 does happen it’s atleast a year or more away
Hence why I keep asking for an update. Can’t wait a year to spend more money on something should work.
@MariusP, I got so frustrated with the Bridge2, I bought an Auralic Aries G2. $4000 later, I’m happy I did, it is a step up in performance. Not really happy about PSA’s handling of this whole, loud bursts of distortion, blasting through my speakers between tracks.
Another month goes by…
Unacceptable…
Agree,I wrote to Paul.He said maybe he will have by the end of the week something.
Let’s hope.
Thank you Sir.
