Bueller...... Bueller......

Anything (positive) happening with the WaveStream?

While it may not be an award winner, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off is still a classic. If you have not seen it then you need to correct this severe error!

As for WaveStream, we have not heard much recently. Paul did suggest that we should have WaveStream by Christmas - he just didn’t say what year. :)) At this point I would not bet on this year although it is still quite possible. There are a couple of breakthroughs that have to be made to achieve the full user performance package. These breakthroughs could occur tomorrow or next year, NOBODY knows…

Sorry if this prognostication seems a bit pessimistic but we have seen so little progress and we ALL are waiting for the next step. I certainly hope that the magic happens much sooner rather than later.

Query: Can a classic ever stop being a classic?

I’m sure this is all frustrating Paul to no end…but at least the Windows beta testers have something to work with. I moved all my streaming from windows to a Mac mini for a couple of reasons…the main being moving everything to a system the rest of the family has no access to EXCEPT for streaming music. NO web browsing, NO games, NO downloads, NO homework = NO constant need to rebuild the system.

EMM is certainly more stable in this configuration, and selecting everything to gapless works fairly well for the way I primarily use the system. However, I’m really looking forward to working with Wavestream and JRiver as EMM is currently a dead product with the later being the new recommended configuration for streaming to the bridge.

I am sure that it can, although it does not happen often. In the case of Bueller, culture might change sufficiently that the movie no longer makes sense. You might also consider the possibility that the status of classic may remain but no longer have any real value.

Hey Elk... Take a break and watch Ferris Bueller. :))

J.P.

The 2 Wavestream issues that bugs me big time are the random drop outs and the fact that hirez streaming over 96/24 does not work!

There seems to exist a status quo on this. I also have some minor micro skips.

Gapless PB, tuning noise and missing album arts on the PWD display are the least of my problems.

Please restrict extended discussion of WaveStream beta software to the beta group. While most here know of the issues there is no need to re-hash them in the public forums. Yes, I suppose I did open the door a crack… :open_mouth:

@frode

Hmm, bit concerning you are getting micro skips in your setup.

On a windows 8 setup and the same PC used for general use I have had zero dropout seven or more months going from DLNA to Wavestream. I would investigate your network something must else must be causing the dropouts.

What Virus scanner are you using?

What is the CPU load when streaming 24/96 file.

What player are you using

How many devices are on your network

Wow, we have gone from "maybe next week" to "maybe next year". :O

Still does not stream hi rez? What the....

Might be time to move on to something else.

Sure, try something else. I recommend foobar2000 with foo.out.upnp and your choice of remote control plug-ins. That has been working very well for me… Ethernet playback, gapless and high res, although I have very little material above 24/96.

WaveStream has been frustrating for all involved. I would bet that the longer this drags on the more Paul wishes that he had gone for a Bridge Mk II that would take care of all the issues. Certainly not an easy task, but probably easier than their current path. Maybe the PS Audio Network Player that a number of us really want. I guess that Jesus would love to sell some of his units - I have to admit that I am somewhat drawn to them.

Paul won’t tell us, but I think he canned the entire programming crew weeks ago! :stuck_out_tongue:

It has to be said though that I have not found a solution from other vendors that does this hirez streaming flawlessly with the same SQ.

@frode - and my impression is that you’ve certainly tried a lot of them out, as is @stereophilus right now.
