I also really like the s/w to control it. From a phone or tablet you can control pretty much every aspect of it. Including streaming to it from a variety of services like Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Spotify, etc… There’s also upsampling control, output voltage settings, several different “filters”. Master Clock controls, and of course input selection. I also like the display. I don’t normally keep it on, but at a glance you can see quite bit of info. You definitely get what you pay for with it.
Somehow I knew Vince’s turn-on routine will not be simple, he is a complicated soul. My routine is easier, after turnig on the whole system with ON command on remote, then I run the 60s cleanwave. Some time I wait and often I just play music because the first hour sucks anyway.
Usually by two hours the music seems to lose a bit touch, or maybe my brain needs a short break. That is when I run a 10 to 30 seconds of cleanwave. When I ran it I always either walked away or practiced on putting green, but I never sitdown to listen. My brain must told me “Don’t listen to it now, it is bad!”. After the cleanwave the sound was always better though.
I turned on the system not long ago and this time I will not run cleanwave for three hours, then I will sit down to run it and hear.
Are you using the Rossini bridge?
Hmm, I will continue my routine when running the cleanwave. The music sounded a bit veiled and lifeless when I listened to it more carefully during the cleanwave. After it is done the music is more relaxed and smoother. 15s every two hours are about right for my system.
About every two hours myself or until a sense of snappy quick detail looses
it’s edge…
Best wishes
No, the Bartók and Rossini both have the bridge built into the DAC.
It’s because of our mixed use 2-chan/HT. Our house is small so there’s no room for a seperate 2-chan listening space. To be honest I really like the mixed setup. The HT sounds awesome with the Jeff Rowland and Sopra 2’s.
I still have the center channel plus two tower speakers in the closet from my previous HT system. I should have traded in them for one of the PSA gear because I knew they will never be used again. Now the HT is a 65 OLED plus a set of B&W Formation and Bass. My wife think it is the best HT system we ever had, not because of the sound, but because of the look. Lately I realized she is right.
We have the matching Sopra Center. It’s quite good. We got it in black even though the L&R are white. We didn’t want the bright white under the black TV. We are both glad we did.
Of course this would drive @luca.pelliccioli insane!
Frankly we could live without a HT in our house. Our 20yo son uses to live only in an iPhone world (when he doesn’t play his guitars, it means night and day continuously). My wife is laptop dependent and I, ehm… I listen to music almost exclusively. We have a main HT in our living room and a TV in bedroom collecting dust since years.
Exceptions: once a week a football (soccer) match of our city team called Atalanta (the goddess of running, that’s the name) and even less frequently a good movie (we are so selective).
Is this odd nowadays? A lot of neighbors constantly watch (?) TV all day long, we frankly hate these habits.
Sorry, too tired, my bad. I was thinking about the MasterClock, made confusion. Isn’t it in your plans?
I am the only one still watch movies from a TV(si-fi and detective types), My wife watch from her laptop mainly. I do not remember when was the last time my younger daughter watched TV. Maybe never?
I think we get about seven to eight hours a week or so of HT use. With movies, mostly me, twice a month. Those are usually later in the night with headphones after my wife goes to bed.
I bought a Rossini Master Clock. It made a surprisingly big difference. Apex is next. It’s a four month wait.
Right now I am trying to stop myself from buying a pair of Campfire Audio Solaris Stellar Horizon. I may need to be sedated. They are walking distance from our house so instant gratification is a big problem.
you are an inexhaustible source of temptations! All audiophile wearing stuff are new territories to me, one day I need to investigate deeper as much as BACCH nightmare. Today, I’m not ready.
Congrats for the MasterClock, dCSs are wonderful and can’t imagine how good can sound. Do you think without it the Bartok still worth by itself compared to MK II?
If this not-so-pretty thing can be used as a hearing-aid too then I may check it out. I may need a pair in a few years.
Yes. First there’s the SQ and then there’s the functionality. The screen is great and the phone/tablet app is excellent. It’s really easy to use and you can control every aspect of the Bartók with it. For someone like me who wants to play, the interface is very important.
Now that I have it tweaked to my liking, it’s comparable to the difference between the MK1 (unmodded) and MK2.
No, unfortunately not. It’s a wired IEM. No microphones.
