My wife and I listened to WLIR growing up on L.I… It was the only station of it’s kind in our area for awhile. Listened to it every morning after we got married when we got ready for work. Similar format but call had changed to WDRE.

CLASSIC! One of the greatest NYC area FM stations and the go to place for the latest in New Wave / Alternative music in the 80’s & 90’s. Screamers of the eek and live Tuesday nights. If I only had a nickel for every band this station introduced me, like the Bare Naked Ladies, I’d be rich!

My wife and I watched the documentary. It was just so/so. Other than the nostalgia of seeing clubs I used to go to like Paris/New York and Mad Hatter as well as the old bands we didn’t find it all that great.
