Just received my new Directstream Memory Player today and hooked it up to my Directsteam DAC via i2s without a problem. My issue is if I power off and insert the included SD card and power back on the unit gets stuck on initializing (waited ten minutes). I powered off, unplugged the unit for a couple of minutes and repeated the above only to have the same problem. I reformatted the card on my Mac using FAT - MSDOS (not exFAT) and I still have the same problem.
Any suggestions?
By the way, Iām very happy with my purchase and love the sound! Thanks Paul and all the PS Audio staff for a great product!
I realize your post is 8 years old and there were no replies to your question regarding your Memory Player being stuck on āInitializingā. Mine is now doing the same thing. Did you ever figure out how to fix it? I was advised to unplug it for several hours to drain the capacitors, but that didnāt work. I think Iām done with PS Audio products.
Just a thought but maybe the files on the SD card somehow got corrupted? If you reformat the SD card and then copy the firmware from the Downlage page that might be worth a shot.
I was mostly curious as I intend to keep my PS Audio equipment for a decade or more. Iāve seen members on this forum with 15-20 yo equipment ask for help with malfunctions and often get simple fixes. The format and type of memory card can sometimes be the issue. Hope you get a resolution.
Thanks. I intend to contact support. There is some history with me having issues with this unit. Recently, I sent it back to PS Audio because it would not power up. I replaced the fuse and tried numerous times, and it would not turn on. Long story short, PS Audio service did not find a problem with it and could not duplicate the power up issue. When I got it back, it worked, so I was puzzled but happy it worked. I later decided to move my system to another room and after hooking it up, the initializing and not turning on showed up. Itās been on for 2 days now, still initializing. I reformatted the SD card, unplugged it. Still a no-go.
Ouch! I can understand the frustration and wanting to throw in the towel. Given the holiday this week I anticipate support will be hard to reach - but itās worth a try.
Oh my. These types of problems are tough to diagnose, repair. Hopefully PSA will pickup the tab for shipping it back. Theyāll take care of you. Positive waves Moriarty.
