Tony, I haven’t been following the forum that frequently lately … I see you were a PST Beta tester. My PST and MkII are on it’s way … (I’m in SA). Did you (also) upgrade from the previous MkI / Transport as I am now? And if so which component did you experience as the biggest improvement?
Listening and testing the final version of Massive now. Amazing! Ted fixed it all. Stay tuned. Likely an early January release.
Bravo, Ted, Paul and Company! January will be sweet for me. The Massive release, Macintosh MA352, Aurender N150, Isoaccustics oreas, Siltech speaker cables/PCs, Thunderbird HDMI and USB (which flavor unknown at this time)…lions, tigers and bears oh my!
Yes, I upgrades as you did, however, the PST preceded the MK2 by more than a year due to the development schedule at PS Audio.
The PST was the first time I heard the impact of galvanic isolation. I was dumbstruck. I could not believe that I was hearing so much more clarity in music that I played every week. I sat there for five minutes or more speechless. When the Mk2 arrived it made even more of an improvement, but I knew what to expect.
Getting both the PST and the Mk2 at the same time you are going to get double the effect that I got with only the PST. Be sure you are sitting down when you start to listen for the first time,. ![]()
Great, tx Tony! Added to PaulM’s news above the difference should be massive indeed ![]()
Exciting times ![]()
… and know that it will continue to improve with continuous burn in during the first 300-500 hours.
Let us consider a pre-Axpona 2024 a success. No rush IMO.
Well Tony I hope you’re satisfied. Your post, and the impending release of Massive has pushed me off the MKll fence I’ve been sitting on for the last year. Tried to call them yesterday but no answer. Emailed them but no answer yet. They probably all left for Christmas break already. Sure hope that my reaction to the sound of this DAC matches what you all are describing. ![]()
rkindel, What will you use to feed the DAC? A PST, downloads, streamer???
I think this is great and I apologize no one responded to you yet. Let me see what I can do.
I will be using a Eversolo A6 Master Edition over usb and an old Pioneer DVD player using SPDIF. Surprisingly, I’ve gotten the Pioneer to sound pretty good. I’ve upgraded the power cord and it sits on Isoacoustics isolation pucks.
Thanks Paul. I was dealing with Spencer Payne last year and I sent my email to him. But no worries, I would like mine to have the finalized version of Massive pre installed and I’m sure you probably won’t have any of those available quite yet.
Wow, the Pioneer one is a surprise. All I can say is that using the PST into the Mk2 via the I2S connection, my SACD collection has never sounded better.
My trusty Pioneer is from their Elite series from the early 2000s or so. Its internal DAC is, predictably terrible but it serves the need as used as a transport only. I saw a PST advertised in the forum a month or so back that was tempting but I wanted to try the DAC before I consider anything like that. Only have a few SACDs so don’t really need the PST for that reason only.
You’ll be surprised what the PST will do to CDs. It puts a huge smile on my face.
And how about flac, wav, ape etc downloads written to DVD?
Can’t speak to those formats on DVD. I use Jriver MC win11 laptop for streaming until the Aurender N150 arrives in January.
I played AIFF DVD fine, but once in a while the PST could not read the disc. Then I needed to turn it off from the back to reboot.
I burn DSD DOP files to DVD’s and they play fine on the PST. However they do take a long time to load. I play the same disks in my PWT and they load very quickly like a CD. They sound great on the PWT with the Mk2 DAC!
