Directstream Mk 2 observations

Ouch! Hopefully PSA recovers on that one!

Yes, we all hope so.

…and there’s someone else out there enjoying your MKII. I’ve long wished that shipping boxes from audio manufacturers were unmarked. Big logos on them seem like a flashing sign “steal me”.

I lost a REL T/9i subwoofer a few years back somewhere in the vicinity of the Jacksonville distribution hub. Very annoying but fortunately it was replaced without issue. Bad Kharma for whoever stoops to these levels.

Reading the manual it says the MKII and PST are designed to stack. With the MKII running a bit warmer than the MKI has anyone encountered any issues, or just choosing not to stack?

-1 man card (manual reading I know)

Thanks

Hi,
I personally would never stack components. If you must because of space limitations you would have to put the PST on the bottom of the stack as it has a protrusion on the bottom due to the transport that they use in it. This would work out as far as heat goes too as the PST runs very cool. The mk 2 DAC runs pretty warm, more so than the original Directstream DAC.

:100: percent with you on that Vince! The PS Audio boxes I have received has the actual product listed right on the outer shipping box and could never understand why. I received my new Auralic G1.1 yesterday from Upscale Audio and came in 3 boxes, the outer plain brown box, and then a plain white box and finally the actual Auralic box. No need to advertise expensive product inside.

I received a king cake yesterday direct from New Orleans. The box noisily declares what is inside.

Fortunately it was not devoured on its trip.

Look out for the baby in the cake

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

I recently ordered a replacement A/V receiver from Crutchfield and the shipping box came wrapped in heavy duty blue plastic, so it could not identified.

Have to be honest. Been listening to my system with a modded DS Mk1 a lot lately after an extended break.
Did some minor more precise speaker placement tweaks to adjust some imbalances in soundstage.
I did some volume adjustment with the dual subwoofers and the low pass.
I swapped my USB cable from the Lumin U1 Mini to the Matrix for an old lowly Wireworld Chroma I had laying around. (was using an equally low rent Straightwire USB cable). Seems to have tamed a little bit of etching on high end.

I have a DS Mk2 on order from a couple weeks ago and paid for.

It all sounds great right now on good DSD recordings. I am sitting here wondering how in the fck it can be a lot better.

The DSD Mk2 will need to be pretty special to keep it. LOL.

I am saying something similar in my own head. Alas, Fedex lied to me saying it would be here in an hour, not so.

I will have to experience it for myself tomorrow.
