Her voice and compositions are pretty unique, listen all the time. This from the biggest Who fan you’ve ever met. Saw them when they opened for Herman’s Hermits Providence Ri 1967. What do you all think? Am I losing it in old age?

Enya is mentioned occasionally.
Run this Google search:
site:psaudio.com enya
But what do you all think?
I’m 62 and like ENYA. I like the Carpenters, too…so thank you for triggering my have to get list to add ENYA! What’s the best CD to get? Maybe I should get the very best of, and go from there.
best,
Galen
Good start. Shepard Moons is also good. I just let the Amazon Playlist give me whatever. Enjoy!
If you run the Google search you will see what people here think.
Hi I did, didn’t see anything specific. If you want me to not go further with this post I won’t. Although this forum is Music.
Selective Enya fan here. Hit and miss but I particularly like Watermark.
The search gets you to all the mentions of Enya on this forum. This should give you an idea what people here think.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your thread. I offered the search to help you answer your question.
Listening to “And winter came…” aws. Think ´My! My! Time flies´ is lovely indeed.
no you are not loseing it, she is bad to the bone
Not sure if this counts, but I did name one of daughters after her.
We played Loreena McKennitt’s “The Visit” in our boys’ bedroom on repeat when they were infants. I think it helped them sleep better. Will always remember the last tune Cymbeline. A beautiful song with lyrics by Shakespeare.
Edit: Also really like Enya too. Shepard Moons and Watermark are favorite albums.
Seeing I own all their releases I must like Enya and Loreena Mckennitt quite a bit. It’s been my observation that a lot of people regard all “New Age” artists as the equivalent of mindless noodling pablum and that’s a very simplistic viewpoint IMO. Brian Eno said Ambient music has to be able to satisfy the seemingly contradictory goals of being able to recede into the background with no attention necessary or it can be worthy of as much attention as you wish to direct towards it. I think that same set of dualistic values can be applied to much "New Age"music as well. Similarly, I think Andreas Vollenwieder is another artist with more merit than often given credit for. It’s amazing how many times his recordings are referenced in audio reviews with regard to their sound staging and sonics but the reviewer feels compelled to apologize for listening to him.
Caverna Magica is a good listen
Dang, I have about all of the Loreena McKennit music! This is what I call talent in voice control…no doubt. I love this artist. And, her music has good variety of PRAT from album to album.
I will get the ENYA Watermark CD and her best of and see what I think on ENYA.
best,
Galen
So sad that Kraft Foods is using Enya’s beautiful “Only Time” on television spots to sell their boxed mac ‘n’ cheese (and why???). Love Enya and Loreena. In the '80’s, I also bought more than a hundred Windham Hill vinyl LPs and a few CDs. Think George Winston, Scott Cossu, and the famous Windham Hill Samplers. Nothing wrong at all with “New Age”, and don’t forget to Google Windham Hill and Narada Records for other choices.
I worked in a record store in high school from 82-84. Windham Hill was very soothing compared to some of the ‘music’ of the day.
George plays (or has played for the past ~30 years) a little 100 year old movie theater in a town near me. It’s a pleasure to see and hear him play. He’s a good person.
Shows are between $5 and $15 typically. I think George was a bit more but nothing silly. Rocky Horror Picture Show has played Friday nights continuously since the 80s if not longer.
