After hearing great things about the DSD versions of Armstrong and Ellington, I dl’d a DSD 256 copy of that album on my Mac. Transferred it to a usb stick. How can I listen to it my Eversolo>MKll>pre>amp? Eversolo and MKll do not have a usb input. I doubt my Mac will handle DSD. Any suggestions or sis I just waste my time and money.
I would download all my digital music files on a SSD and add it to the EverSolos drive slot on the bottom of the unit as intended and designed to do… Cheers
Eversolo DOES have a slot for usb sticks on the back
Two usb are output. There is a usb-c input. Guess I’ll need some kind of adapter?
What software did you use to download the DSD256?
Good lord. Seriously?
Connect the USB bottom slot on the Eversolo to the Mk II input using a standard USB A to B cable. The USB-C slot is an input to feed an external source to the Eversolo DAC. Put the USB stick in the OTG slot.
This will result in 2 conversions and I would not do this way.
The Eversolo will convert from dsd to pcm.
Then the MK2 would convert the pcm to analog.
Even though the DAC in the MK2 is MUCH better than the Eversolo DAC, one conversion inside the eversolo would result in better sound quality over both the eversolo AND the MK2
I would think using the SSD port in the bottom of the Eversolo to house the DSD files and then send the digital signal from the Eversolo (basically bypassing the internal ESS dac) to the MKII digital input would be ideal? Am I thinking wrong? Then the MKII would then convert everything to DSD256 iirc, and should be good to go…
Basically, if you have a MKII, I would never consider using the ESS chip DAC in the Eversolo, they leave a lot to be desired compared to the MKII dac in a pretty significant way… A SSD drive can be had cheap on amazon and just use the ES as a streamer…
Win win…
Yes, you are thinking wrong, lol.
But seriously, the Eversolo A6 does not output dsd, it simply does not have that capability.
It would have to use the internal DAC to convert dsd to pcm, then output pcm.
If you then use another dac to convert the pcm to analog, one would have 2 DAC’s in the chain, seriously degrading the sound quality.
If you connect it the way I described you are bypassing in DAC functions in the Eversolo and then it is acting strictly as a file player just like the Air Lens or a Holo Red. It does not touch the file. And yes if you used the Eversolo as an all in one leaving out the DAC II it does output DSD through the ESS DAC chip just like an Innuos, Auralic, Lumin or Aurender.
If you got your DSD files already on a USB stick and the not all that bad USB cable that came in the Eversolo box then hook it up and see what you get. Better than talking theoretical on a forum.
I have used the Eversolo as a streamer only many times, bypassing the ESS dac of the A6. I actually own it and use it in my secondary system daily. I guess I am not grasping how DSD files on the SSD and then digital out from the Eversolo (which should just send the raw DSD data to the MKII would not work?) My brain is apparently wrecked today… HA Sorry if I am confusing things… LMAO
The website shows up to DSD256 support.

It will work as you think. Again just try it and see. It’s the only way to know one way or the other.
Yeah, I am going to it today. The OP got me curious.
I’m just trying to help him find the best solution for his goal of listening to and experiencing DSD on his current setup… It is worth the work IMHO…
I recently moved to an AL for my MKII, making the jump from the MKI/MBII, where I had moved from the Eversolo A6 with an upgraded power supply, and I am pleased with the gains of each move.
I now run all my DSD files on an SSD drive on my ROON server that feeds to my AL and MKII via i2s… Man that is a killer combo…
I had my MKII at a buddy’s house so he could check it out for a while and had to drop back to the Eversolo A6 for a week, and it reminded me how decent that little guy is with the LPS upgrade.
My buddy Kevin returned my MKII (you can see it on the left on top of the P600) and listened to the Eversolo A6. Fun stuff.
I will go work though a few things with DSD, ES-A6, and MKII and report back for the OP…
Cheers, peeps… Happy Friday
Yes, never done it and never looked at it - so if that responce was an insult, perhaps you should have just ignored the question or answered it.
Using the A6 for streaming and bypassing the DAC in the A6 and sending the pcm file to another DAC, you are spot on.
