DS kit install instructions

rogerdn said You are saying the DS will not update the Bridge, Why is that ?
That's not quite what he's saying. If you update your bridge according to instructions it will continue to be upgradable like always.

It’s a one time required change to enable future DS upgrades to work smoothly.

The impression I got was that if you didn’t upgrade to 2.15 or higher then when the Bridge was installed into DS then DS would not recognize the Bridge, thereby leaving it unable to do the update. Once 2.15+ was installed then DS could recognize the Bridge and allow future updates.

So…upgrade Bridge to 2.15 now in as we await the kits to avoid any issues.

I guess this will reset the firmware sound bar discussions, as it seems older beloved firmware versions such as 2.02 etc will not be compatible with the new DS.

I’m not going to say that all bridge versions will sound the same on the DS, everything matters, but they will sound closer to the same… The new software in the bridge with the DS will certainly sound better than any older bridge software without a DS.

By definition the DS with 2.15 + will sound better than 2.02 because if you don’t upgrade, there won’t be any sound coming through DS at all . . .

And since you won’t wake the baby…older versions will have a better WAF. kiss

When you do a web upgrade to the Bridge use this path: http://updates.psaudio.com/bridge/upgrade-0.2.15a.ub

What is the ub extension, my PC doesn’t seem to like it ?

You gotta do a .ub upgrade. there is an instruction page but I don’t know where to look for it with the new website.

Here tis: How to update PerfectWave firmware – PS Audio

Careful not to confuse PWD firmware with Bridge firmware.

Is there a way to tell which Bridge firmware I have and which PWD firmware I have currently installed so I can make sure I am up to date?

Mr_bill

Sure.

Get the Bridge IP address from the front panel and then enter it in your browser address bar.

The Bridge web page will pop up, lots of good info there.

I have downloaded bridge firmware 2.15 onto a SD Card.

I have shut off the PW DAC by the main power switch on the back of the DAC,

I have removed the old SD Card (that was for the 2.42 update for the DAC)

I have inserted the new SD Card with the Bridge (2.15 firmware)

I have turned on the main power switch in back

I have turn on the DAC more than once

The DAC now shows the Bridge firmware to be 2.14, (not 2.15).

Did I do anything wrong (for example, I could only find one SD Card slot on the back of the DAC).

Please advise,

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

you can´t upgrade the Bridge FW by using the SD-Card. This one is only for the PWD FW.

The Bridge can be updated either via the web-upgrade or by storing the upgrade file on your Computer and use the “file upgrade option”. Please take care to rename the file to “upgrade.ub”.

In any way you have to put the web-address of the bridge into your browser. After that a page will be shown where you can select the upgrade method for the bridge upgrade.

For better information please refer to the detailed upgrade description on the PSA website.

Well here you go then.
