I just plugged in my new-to-me MK2 that I bought from @soundlogic (arrived in as-new condition). It replaces my modded MK1 which will be handed down to my nephew.
In my system, I don’t see how the question of which sounds better, a modded MK1 or stock MK2 could be hard to answer. The MK2 is much more analog sounding. Listening to my DMP, soundstage goes impressively deep. The new inner detail on familiar recordings is hilarious. Listening to Anna Caram’s Blue Bossa, her voice is now much more human, moist.
The PMG must be amazing.
From what I have heard from the big improvement moving from MK1 to MK2, I believe you. APS on MK2 is quite a nice improvement over stock too.
