DS MK1 & R Pi Streamer Choices?

Hello everyone and I currently have a Raspberry Pi/Allo Digione Signature streamer feeding my DS MK1 via SPDIF. I understand the DS works best with the I2S input, which the Allo doesn’t provide as an output. On the other hand, there’s the PI2AES Pro 2.0 Shield hat for a Raspberry Pi that does have the I2S output. I’m currently using Ifi power supplies, two of them, for my current streamer, could easily use them for the PI2AES. The PS I use for the clean side I’ve made a buffer with a ceramic cap and voltage regulator; the Allo sounds good. My reason for writing is that I’d like to know if the upgrade to the PI2AES Pro 2.0 is a worthwhile one? Anyone with direct experience, I’d certainly love to know your thoughts and thank you!

I can only speak from my own experience of my DIY pi experience is that I2S will make a subtle differnce if the system is setup correctly and has enough resolution. I don’t use the pi hat you mentioned but using Ian Canada’s Pi hats an his custom clocks. In the Pi world, I’d say the best way is to try it out yourself. Changing the clock chips though yields much bigger precieved changes than the I2S output.

Thank you, wudai_e, for your response. Which IanCanada Pi setup are you using?

I copy and pasted, + better clocks of course.
