DSD MK2 Latest Mountaintop update! - Mount Blue Sky!

I got the same thing despite numerous attempts and DAC saying it was Uploading 3.2.1 Firmware. I followed Aarons instructions verbatim. did you get fixed. If so how?

I am curious how you got 3.2.1 to load my still says 3.1.0? My FPGA does says 239 but doesn’t say Bluesky.

I finally got it to load. Two usb sticks and multiple attempts but it’s finally installed. It would load the first one, usually, but one the second one it kept saying usb stick not found. Just kept at it rebooting the DAC and changing sticks and finally the firmware installed!
I can hear a definite change in the soundstage right off the bat. I’ll stream into it all night tonight and check it again tomorrow.

I’ve only had Blue Sky for about 30 minutes now but I really can’t believe what I’m hearing already. It’s going to be real hard not to overstate this but I’m hearing the ā€œholographicā€ soundstage they are always associating with tubes that rarely actually appears, at least to me. I’m listening to ā€œGuitar in the Space Ageā€ by Bill Frisell now and I’m hearing instruments poke out at me all over. It’s kind of disorientating, startling, and I love it!

Listening to ā€œUtopiaā€ by Bremer/Mccoy and it’s apparent that the depth effects I was hearing before was primarily due to that particular album. Bremer/Mccoy presents a more subtle effect. With this one the stand out feature I’m hearing is the bass. I can tell Blue Sky is potentially going to open different aspects of engagement depending on the piece.

I wish I knew for sure, it was somewhat convoluted. I believe I installed that 239-internal file at the FPGA prompt, and then I finally got the long series of flashes and all was well.

I figured it out. I listened to @aaronm directions. He stated your USB only needed two latest firmware and fpga files But it also needs the latest image bin file so it needs 3 files After I added that and then did rear panel repower all is working and it loaded 3.2.1 and displayed Bluesky with fpga number. Now I got to let firmware burn in.

Yea, that’s the ticket! First listen sounded like a loudness button had been pressed, but after running a few hours, WOW.

After installing BlueSky and playing music for 10 hours the improvements was perfect!
What everyone experienced is really true… wider and deeper soundstage with clarity in vocals and instruments. Like a veil was removed from the soundstage, everything is clear and musical.

Keep up the great work to Paul and Ted. From Singapore with love

Does anyone know how long the sale is going on for?

Thank you for the confirmation but all the credit goes to Ted. I was the one that went through the 20 different versions to select the one with the biggest improvement, but the work itself was all Ted!

It was promoted as being for the month of December, 2024.

Am confused. Think I loaded correctly. But unsure. Here’s my screen:

Fpga: 239-Internal
USB: 3.02.a91f

Please advise! Many thanks.

If you had those two files on the stick it should have worked. Can you give me more information? What type of USB were you using (size, file structure, brand). Also, were you following the instructions in this video? https://youtu.be/X7IAp9Mqazk?si=7I0HxfADcH58qie8

Thanks!

Thought so. Used same usb I’ve used successfully for other loads. Was blank. Fat32 confirmed. Think I followed video. Does the sequence matter (of the two files to load?)

Sure appreciate your help.

Sandisc cruiser 8gb.

Tried again. Something wrong (me, likely)

It shouldn’t matter the order, but in the video I did the FPGA first, then the update second.

Your USB drive should look like this. with no other file structure on it. Can you double check it does?

Use a Windows pc, MacOs does not format in FAT32 only exFAT.

Use a small usb 2.0 stick (max 16 gb)

If you re-use the same stick over and over again, reformat it (FAT32) before putting the 2 .bin files on it. If you only empty the stick it sometimes keeps traces of the previous files. That could be the culprit.

Switch the dsd completely off via the powerswitch on the backside before inserting the usb stick. Likewise before removing the stick. And DO remove the stick after both updates.
