Ok, just happened to me…
I fired up my system and doing business work… PowerPoint … barf…
Listening to Elis&Tom again (Elis Regina Tom Jobin)… thinking “boy does this sound great”… working away… then all of a sudden, the stereo came alive!!! The album started over and WOW!!! Hmmm…
Well looking at my Foobar player, I had selected the low-rez, compressed mastered mess version of this disc… that was then followed by the hi-rez version that was mastered way way better.
Question 1: Why did I think the bad disc sounded really good? Thinking I made a great purchase with the PSAudio/PrimaLuna/Focal system of mine…
Question 2: Is happiness a situational illusion?
Question 3: Should I ditch my big expensive system and just go buy a Close N’Play?
Bonus Question: Does working on different Microsoft products have a a differing effect on human sound perception? Hmmmm…
Peace
