I’ve been following the Eversolo conversations with a lot of interest lately. The DMP A8 checks pretty much every box for me.
Assuming the Eversolo app includes something like vTuner or or TuneIn to add internet radio streams, my only remaining question is whether or not the Radio Paradise player is native to the Eversolo app or if individual streams have to be added.
I was introduced to Radio Paradise through BlueSound and have become very spoiled by the RP player functionality within the BS environment. Aside from a couple of internet radio streams for background music, RP is my goto followed by Qobuz.
Because I’ve been demoing an Airlens I’ve tried mcontrol, Roon, jriver, and just now jplay. None support the RP app, just individual streams.
To say that the Eversolo Control app and firmware have no issues is both naive and not true. I’ve owned a DMP-6 since June of 2023 and all models use the same software. It has plenty of issues as anyone who browses the Eversolo forum would find out. Whether or not any of those issues would affect or bother you is a different matter. Many of them affect some of their gimmick features. If you’re a Roon user though it seems to work as advertised.
Rose has same type forum. Always someone upset about a feature missing (even though 1 in 1000 would use it) or some sort of bug.
Its software. Not perfect but evolving. But still irritating im sure if its something you really want to do. Rose has had at least 4 software upgrades and every one fixed problems I never knew existed. Some did improve a few features though.
I say what I think and verify, the Eversolo software may not be perfect (no one is) but it guarantees optimal functioning. Of course it also depends on how it is used, for the library for example, the files must be tagged correctly. If you use the ones downloaded officially and legally you won’t have any problems. If you rip a disc and don’t correct the tags, it’s possible that the albums won’t be recognized perfectly… but these are just problems that could arise. I have at least ten friends who use Eversolo and no one has ever complained of problems. For me again, it works well without Roon but brand optimizations are always welcome.
In general I have found the app to work as advertised and I don’t use or care about the gimmick features most complain about like the VU meters, EQ or room correction. My main complaint about the app is that after over a year of being asked they can’t seem to figure out how to turn on the auto play feature available in the API’s of both Tiidal and Qobuz. Native Radio Paradise does work though.
I use the A6 in my 2nd system, and find difficulty in playing songs in my recently played list. It keeps skipping to another song other than the one I want.
But I do like the VU meters, LOL
I turn all of that stuff off. Since the last firmware update it won’t let me connect via wired though you can see on the screen that it recognizes it. Will likely require another factory reset to start from scratch again.
I don’t know anything about the Eversolo interface but it’s interesting that RP would show up under Apps along with the others if it doesn’t include all the streams and RP player functionality.
In BlueSound or RP app, the RP player has 6 streams where you can skip tracks and choose a number of options including adding Qobuz favorites. The streams lack any functionality including track information.
