Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

Fully understood. I tried the phone app first and was greatly surprised and disappointed when I tried the iPad version.

I think they are constantly working on all the interfaces and other improvements. It’s proven to be a pretty capable companion. I don’t think of the device much when I stream. I do wish it had mind control though.

Update from EverSolo:

ā€Thank you to the Roon team for their support. Just yesterday, we resolved all technical issues and successfully passed the Roon ready certification. There are still some marketing assets being submitted.ā€

EverSolo’s actions appears to have lit a fire under Roon to get certification addressed.

Neither EverSolo nor Roon look good in this scenario.

Interesting that Eversolo got to move the needle so to speak.

Roon’s branding and marketing is ā€œWe are specialā€.

Making manufacturers and users wait for certification is part of this branding.

EverSolo called them on it.

Didn’t know that, and I’m not one to be tempted by marketing. I am most impressed by commitments made, and more importantly commitments kept. A behavior that seems to be disappearing in this day and age.

Bravo

When I use the Eversolo control app on my phone the first screen I see looks like this:

If you press the Cast button in the lower left corner it switches to this:

Which is the same screen displayed on the A6. I really like this. The iPad app is a whole other thang. A bad thang.

Note: I have an Android phone. I can’t help people who use that other type of phone. I fear its app may be similar to the iPad app. Hopefully I am wrong about this.

The iPhone app looks just like your android phone. I never tried the iPad app.

A tidy app.

Kudos to Summit Hifi. The owner called me within 12:hours of my order and let me know the approximate delivery date range of the Eversolo. Guessing at least three weeks and less than 5.

I come to you, hat in hand, to humbly admit that I was wrong in dismissing the A-6 internal DAC a few days ago. Please let me explain.
Upon listening early on I reported on the closed in top and warm ripe bottom. I found that the sound opened up considerably with brake in. This process continues.
A factor that I had neglected to consider was that my external DAC had the benefit of a well sorted vibration reduction scheme. This usually results in increased detail and improved soundstage. Just the things the internal DAC, in comparison, was lacking. I had started out with using three Isoacoustics mini pucks. Results were OK at best. I decided to try replacing one of the isolation pucks with a cone made by Vibrapod. I’ve had good luck in the past with them firming up bass. Sure enough, the bass became deeper and tightened up some. Next, I added a Vibrapod to the cone to actually add some vibration isolation. This is the step where the magic happened. Soundstage opened WAY up. Everything snapped into focus. In my experience Vibrapods warm up bass. This happened here too, which is a step in the wrong direction for what I was trying to achieve. Fortunately, I ended up working that back by dialing the volume control back a bit on my subwoofer and setting the crossover down by 5hz, or so.
My Master Edition is now transformed. I can now choose between the tighter dryer bass flavor on my Benchmark DAC or the slightly warmer, rounder flavored bass with the internal DAC. Higher up the differences are subtle and pretty much a wash. The internal DAC has the nice advantage of 24-192 playback. My Benchmark is limited to 24-96 with its USB. I can switch between the two wirelessly with the app and switching to another input on my preamp, also wirelessly.
Last night I listened to the 2019 remix of Abbey Road. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this over the decades. This time I was noticing nuance differences I’ve never noticed before. I was drawn into the soundscape like never before. This remix is wonderful in ways I’d never noticed before from the CD or on Qobuz previous to the Eversolo. My Master Edition has been a tremendous upgrade to my system. I’m enjoying music on a new level. What more can I say?

Perhaps it’s in the name: ever solo…

The iPhone App is really nice for a new launch Eversolo again is making a real effort it seems to improve and keep fixing stuff. I’ve never really tried my iPad other than I loaded the app on it. I just usually stream the Brutalz Channel for dive bombs and speed runs on big bleeding stacks and let it run delicately on the teeny device.

So the iPad app does not cast? that would be cool to have that size touch. Cleaning out mother in laws house to sell so been too busy to play :frowning:

I use a Samsung Android tablet and it works exactly like the phone - perfectly.

Now comparing Red with Eversolo. I thing this thing has the edge but I run my tuning software using red as DDC and I2S into MKII. RAL hdmi. Eversolo using wireworld starlight 8. The latest wireworld. The bass is def stronger. Just seems not tuned. Could the I2S vs USB make that big a difference or is the diff streamer both? I cannot use eversolo as DDC so I got a matrix so I can use same hdmi cable on next tune. That did not happen the past few times changing streamers.

By comparison, how does the Eversolo sound using its own internal DAC?
