I have not tried. Barley have time for a few songs as is.
But up late in office trying to copy files to new M2 drive. Super slow. @aangen was your transfer slow. Both wired laptop and on Wi-Fi in same router. Crazy slow. 1.4MBs

Just hooked mine up today. What a well oiled machine the A6 is. Color me impressed. Tried Roon and Quobuz and both worked flawlessly. The internal DAC sounds more than serviceable. A great bargain for my secondary system consisting of Franco Serblin Accordo speakers driven by a Purifi amp. Haven’t tried it with a preamp yet. Seems unnecessary to do so!
For sure a keeper.
I had an SSD drive plugged into the back of the A6 and copied from that to the M2 drive. It was slow. I started it and went away. It took a long time. It’s done now. I used an app on the A6 to copy the files if I remember correctly.
I have used the Eversolo’s internal dac to listen to dsd256 from a usb flash drive, and the dac sounds quite nice.
Brian, could you try running both the Red and the A6 into the DAC via USB? I know this is not the interface you normally use for the Red, but it will eliminate some variables. You’ll have to swap the WW cable from one to the other.
So one thing I couldn’t get the A6 to do. I have a usb hub w 20TB - 4 5TB usb drives hooked to it. This caused it to crash. It tried to read them but did go into a recovery screen. I have yet to unplug one and try it. Al has tried a 5tb drive with success. Probably a bit much to ask.
I figure I will use one drive / possibly get a ssd 4Tb drive and stream. Honestly I’ve not found a need to go off my streaming service. But we shall compare sound etc.
It did find my NAS with zero issues. not the easiest to navigate and select music. Maybe I missed a step to assign it a name or something. Really does not matter as I am keeping Roon. Just figured I would poke around and try things. Seeing if I can replace NAS with 4TB internal (my library is not that large) and loose a box in the setup.
Running almost 11 hours. Will take a week at this rate. My guess is it’s better to format drive with eversolo and the. Pull drive and load from attached to computer. Should 100 times faster.
So the question is once it gets to the internal drive. It was mentioned about access at that point. Is it just like accessing albums on jriver? Search capability the same? Or are you looking at files ?
No once there you just play it from there. no other devices beside the phone or table you use to control it. Everything is local.
Interesting tidbit. I was testing out my BHK250 that I am going to sell just to do final validation working before I sell. (yes its silver). I set the output of the Eversolo to RCA, nothing, Then XLR nothing. hmm… recycled via power off/on and poof they worked. Not sure why I had to do that, but simple fix. And yes 250 is working. will be selling shortly. (replaced with Paul’s 300’s)
Some folks are reporting the built-in app produces much better sound quality than Roon or other Connect apps. Do you find this to be true?
Isn’t the app just a controller? And does the built-in app also control roon (like start/stop, etc…?) Does the app add some filtering/upsampling?
That’s what i thought, but apparently, the app does seem to make a difference in SQ according to some reviewers. Trying to confirm that.
I have not had time to compare. for one it takes so long to transfer anything. I hit my whole library. so it will take days to copy. I can poke around and see what moved and try it. but I have so much to do in the coming weeks I will not have much time. Away on vacation next week too.
This might help. thinking let A6 format and set up its music directory. pull and transfer from laptop via USB3.0… should do it a few hours…not days.

This link does not work for me. It gets me to an empty Amazon cart.
Just fixed
Get any, any external drive and plug it directly into the A6 and copy from there.
If you asking about sound quality differences in playing back local files versus streaming, local files do sound better, but I also used local files that sound the best I’ve ever heard for testing the sound quaity. The streaming sound quality is also decent. It might have more to do with the conversion process when the music was changed to flac prior to streaming. As I have noticed that Boz Scaggs, for instance, sounds better streaming than other streamed music.
Na, he is asking whether you hear a difference between playing the files via Roon, or playing the files via the built in music player.
I hear a difference, it’s not a big difference, but the internal player sounds a bit better. But the Roon interface makes adding and changing what you are playing a lot easier. This week.
I asked on the DMP-A6 forum for them to copy the Roon options for adding tracks to the current Queue and I think they may have done that already or will do it. They really are working diligently to make the A6 as good as it can be. It’s fun to be a part of.
Roon is an option, not a necessity with the A6. If I bring my A6 up to my cabin there won’t be any Roon.
