Newbie question, but in the Roon Core settings for the A6, do I set the volume to “fixed”? What does that mean exactly, that you control the volume through the A6 vs. Roon?
Fixed means you do not control the volume with the A6. When using the A6 as a streamer only this is the correct setting. When using it with the internal DAC it depends on whether or not you have a preamp between the DAC and the Amplifier. In most cases, fixed is the correct setting.
Hmmm. I think back up my NAS to 4TB usb. I could yank that for a day. Thank for the idea.
I thought you would pick up on that option when I told you earlier it’s how I did it. Network speed is usually a lot slower than directly connected drives. Don’t use Windows to copy the files, use the internal function on the A6. I was able to find it without peeking at the manual. I suppose I could find it again but it wasn’t hard the first time. Oops, found it again. Use the File Explorer app on the A6. It is on the front page when you use the phone app. If you haven’t installed the phone app yet get right on that. The phone app is much better than the iPad app.
I did pick up on that but I forgot about the usb back on my NAS. I don’t have files anywhere else.
I tried the app first from NAS to internal. Then windows. Both over network painfully slow. Not sure why.
So I will delete what’s copies and try from sratch. Unless the file mover has don’t overwrite.
Almost half copied with attached drive. Much better. In 22 hours it only copied 20 albums over network. Many DSD so big but still. Do not use network to copy files
The DMP-A6 is available to order on Amazon right now.
No master available… was thinking of upgrading.
My understanding is that the Master Edition is only available from Summit Hi-Fi (in the U.S.) and that they customize the regular DMP-A6 making it a Master Edition. Not sure how accurate that is.
The Master Edition is an Eversolo product but only sold through dealers or distributors and not Amazon or Ali Express. Amazon’s delivery date went from July 17th to the 30th in less than 30 minutes so obviously just taking pre-orders
Good to know, that makes sense.
I have been playing around with this thing. I think someone reported that native DSD on the MKII has static background. I have experienced this as well. I did not try to reboot dac but swapping to DoP fixed it. I do not get the pops with DoP either. So I left it that setting.
The Eversolo was never the problem for that “someone” and Al tried to explain to him that the issue was with the Mk II but he knew better than people who had tried it with other DAC’s. Based on his posts on another forum he use the “temporary Roon certification” issue as an excuse to send his back without trying what you did which resolved the problem.
He seemed nice though.
Oh yes absolutely the MKII if i had to guess. I do not have another dac to compare. It’s the strangest thing pink noise with the music behind it.
I had to switch the output on my Aries to DOP while using USB to the MK2. I had it set to native on Mk1 with Matrix. Native or DOP sounded the same to me.
Yes Ted has said they should sound the same. I trust his knowledge. But it’s nice it’s confirmed by another forum member.
Please give details comparing the Grimm M1 withe the eversolo. I currently have the Auralic G2.1 and love it but wonder of the comparisons too the Grimm M1 and eversolo. Thank you.
Question for other owners. Is there a way to turn on the Eversolo from app if it’s off and the app has been closed? Seems no way to remote turn on
The Auralic G2.1 is something you can keep and enjoy and not worry if you are missing out on anything. You are not. It’s a keeper.
