Good question. All things considered, the A6 app is better. Lumin feels like the late 80’s…but it does work and is very stable. One thing the A6 app isn’t great at is keeping your recent playlist (or at least I haven’t figured that out). I listen to Tidal and every time I restart the app I need to restart my playlist (unless of course streaming from a Tidal playlist to start with)
I’m guessing it’s people wanting to go to the A8 or something more expensive. I just don’t need anything more.
Looks like $1,980 for the DMP-A8.
I think at that price point with that feature set they will sell a lot of them
Interesting that, amidst the alphabet soup (DSD, PCM, XMOS, DSP, ARC, etc.), Summit HiFi’s ad copy for the DMP-A8 does not mention MQA. By contrast, the Summit HiFi ad copy for the DMP-A6 mentions MQA twelve times. Perhaps this is yet another sign that MQA is dead…
I dont see a Roon Ready logo either. . . .
They learned a hard lesson when they announced the A6 was Roon ready before it was actually approved. It was Roon Ready in actual use but not actually Roon Approved on release. This really excited some of our more anal members here.
I remember the handwringing
If the preamp section turns out to be good this could be another home run for those looking for a all in one with these kind of features.
I don’t recall being excited.
no one gives anything away, at most it’s worth what it costs, I’m talking about quality, for me the normal DMP-A6 didn’t arouse great emotions then…
You must hate life being dead inside.
the important thing is that you are happy
Why is it better than A6?
A very classy answer to my classless post!
It seems nice!
This streamer DAC by Orchard Audio just might be the one for folks who don’t need the app that comes with the Eversolo. This video claims the Orchard Audio sounds less forward and digital. It’s priced at a little over $500, so, great value.
Oops, the link doesn’t work.
This link works
If it’s the guy I’m thinking of, he also says his open baffle speakers out perform $10,0000 speakers. He won’t state which $10,000 speakers though. Idk if you can really trust that he’s knows what he’s doing. If you’re going the raspberry pi route, you might as well do it diy.
Not sure if posted before
From the sound of it, I’ll guess the A10 will be out 6 months after the A8 hits the shelves.
