Finally....PerfectWave SACD Transport

I relate to this a little too much. It’s a constant battle I have with myself trying to find the “perfect” track or album to listen to in the moment.

BTW - still just loving the PST with the steroid-like performance enhancing DSD tweaks. Sucker is settling into its own VERY nicely.

…and my SACD collection growing faster than my #1 media; vinyl.

Confused…where did you get 2.3.1 for PST? Not on Downloads page.

I believe 2.3.1 went live for OTA update this weekend. It should be available on the site for download soon.

Which, unfortunately, can lead to listening to the same 10 or 12 tracks over and over sometimes.

Just fiddled with God knows what on my PST and it asked me: “Do you want to download the new thingy”? To which I answered “sure” and next thing ya know, there it is. (Start with the black button, have your router password ready and zip, bang boom, there it is)
So far, I don’t detect a difference, but I’ve only been listening to unfamiliar music for an hour…

I am not as advanced as you, nor do I have WiFi connectivity, so I will slither along with the masses and wait for the mana to drop from the heavens.

And speaking of listening for differences, I got an Alpha V2 XC to try on my P20 that has a Sigma V1. Same as you. Well, it seems to be a cleaner cable, but, honestly, I don’t want it to be better.
The love/hate part of this hobby.

“cleaner” is the perfect descriptor.

Maybe we are a slightly (non-sexual) masochistic bunch?

How do you get the update via the network?
I have WiFi set up on the PST :heavy_check_mark:
I scroll through the menu then select Update.
It says checking for firmware updates but underneath it says exit. I never get a message saying new firmware available.
When I go through the menu again and check the firmware, it still shows the old firmware.

I was hoping that 2.3.1 would address the display off situation.
If the display is off I still have to double press a button on the remote to execute the command.
Using the front panel buttons to execute the same command only requires one press.

I had the same problem downloading the new software.
Re-powering the unit got it to work.

This was discussed previously, and I believe James said that’s the way the player was set up to operate, which is different than the DMP which only required one push of the remote even when the display is off.

I tried repowering it once but still no luck.

I used to be like this too. Especially when I first started streaming.

After a while, I decided that streaming is the best way to discover and easily evaluate new music and artists.

Now I find myself looking forward to the end of the week when I can add all the new releases that pique my interest to the playlist for the week.

I make a conscious effort to listen to the whole album in each case unless the first couple of tracks really rub me the wrong way. In this case, I skip the rest of the tracks on the album and move on to the next one.

When I get a hankering to listen to a specific album or track, I simply locate it, add it as the next item to be played from my queue. When the album or track finishes, the queue returns to the adventure of discovering/hearting something new.

Version 2.3.1 is now available on the website. The release notes are also in the download along with instructions for how to install. Most already know how to do that though

Hi James, any ideas on how to get the over the air update to work?

These are the instructions that were released with the update.

  1. The unit must be attached to the Internet either via Wifi or Ethernet. Refer to the manual for instructions on how to do so.
  2. Go into the menus with a long press of the Eject/ Menu button.
  3. Using the right arrow key. scroll through the menus until you get to the System sub-menu.
  4. Press the center button to enter the System menu.
  5. Scroll down to the Update sub-menu item.
  6. Press the center button to enter the Update sub-menu.
  7. If an update is available, a pop-up will appear telling you the new version. You can accept the update or exit.
  8. If an update is not available, a pop-up will appear telling you this. The only option is to exit the update sub-menu.
  9. Once you select to update the unit, the unit will reboot. Do NOT unplug or remove power.
  10. The Logo LED will turn on solid blue for a few seconds.
  11. The Logo LED will begin to blink rapidly. It should blink around 25 to 30 times.
  12. The update will complete and the unit will immediately initialize.
