Yes, it was specific to SW. It was happening more often with older code but Barry found a way to significantly reduce the amount that it would happen with the newer code.
Thank you!
I was PST beta tester.
- Layer/Layer default has been discussed before. Here is my post.

I have noticed that, FW2.3.1 the Layer default is defaulted to CD initially. So, need to set it to SACD for the first time, and the setting will stay even after main power off from the back.

On the āhissing bugā, it was a āfamousā bug among the testers. FW2.3.1 handles it pretty well. Usually, when PST is acting up, a main power cycle (similar to computer reboot) makes the software straight.
In your case, I wonāt worry about it, except, it happens frequently.
Sorry if this was mentioned already upthread, but this is a long thread now. Iāve had many players over the years and they all play automatically if I press play when the drawer is open. Also, when turning off power from the remote (or buttons on the player) if the drawer is open the drawer closes and powers off. Neither of these occur with the new PerfectWave player. Would be nice if it did. Perhaps in a future update?
Hmm. The front light on my PST is lit up blue when on, but the one on my DS DAC is not. Is the the way it should be?
All the lights should be lit up when theyāre on.
Although the light on my DSD is much dimmer than the others.
Hmm, yeah maybe my DS light is kind of dim. Compared to the blazing brightness from the PST , it looks like itās off.
I thought the DACSRās LED is adjustable and the PSTās is not. All of my systemās five PSA units have LEDs that burn equally in brightness out of the box but the PST shines noticeably brighter. I listen in low light and donāt like it. I mentioned this is beta but no response
Mineās like yours!
Youāre right, the dimmer for the display also dims and brightens of the LED light. Problem is, then the screen brightness doesnāt match the other PS Audio gear. I have to turn the brightness on the screen all the way up to get the LED to match, but then the screen is like a beam of light from a lighthouse.
Hmm, this is disturbing. I just walked into the sound room to find the front button lamp on the PST blinking continuously. The remote did nothing. I had to power cycle the PST to have it come back to life. Any hints as to what this may have been?
The display on my PST decides to go solid white. This happens even after rebooting. Sometimes it stays on from a few minutes to a few days. It has a mind of itās own. Otherwise the unit works fine. I have authorization to send it to PS Audio for repair.
Mine regularly bugs too: blue light flashing, FUBAR.
I am not happy at all, given how much I paid.
Unbelievable.
Hopefully @Paul will do something about this?
Cr@p. How many other users have seen the same problem? @jamesh, @Paul, do you have any insight into this?
And this is VERY simple software compared to a server ā¦
If PSA canāt design a working CD player, thereās NO WAY I am buying Octave.
@tony22 This is not something Iāve heard of before. I would be alarmed too. Weāre more than happy to have one of our techs take a look or get you in touch with the folks in the Service department to see if they have an easy fix. The first thing I would check would be to ensure youāre running the latest and most current firmware we have available.
I have been told something different by my local PSA importer : itās a known bug but it should not happen too often.
It happened again to me yesterday, and a couple of times before in the last three months.
Especially if you skip forward etc, not so much if you just play a cd from beginning to end.
My opinion : at this price level, it should not happen AT ALL.
This flashing logo phenomenon only happened once for me and a quick reboot via the rear switch got it back. I believe it was mentioned in beta test.
Potentially annoying if it persists but not a big deal for me.
@kevinjackson, it seems @straightwire saw this, too, and apparently had been reported during beta testing. Are you sure you guys have no record of it?
In any event, Iām have less and less confidence that I donāt have a bum unit. If the service department wants to touch base with me Iāll be happy to do it.
