I have also had the flashing blue light maybe three times.
It has been quite a while since it’s happened so I’m not really concerned.
Same here. It happened to me 3 or 4 times when I was breaking the unit in via the USB drive. Hasn’t happened in a while though.
The bugs are disappointing, but to be fair, the sound quality is sublime
Now that you mention it, it also only happened to me when I was using the USB drive for breaking in the PST.
The blue light hasn’t flashed when playing only discs since then.
Thanks all. I feel better, but not happy that this happened. It seems to be related to USB use, which is what was going on when it happened to me. I had had it running with USB for burn in.
I also experience bugs when using the USB to play back music. It skips every other track, and sometimes is unresponsive to the remote.
The PS Audio engineers should be able to duplicate the USB playback issues easily enough. I wonder if the USB glitches have to do with switching file formats during playback. I’ll be getting my PST this week if FedEx figures out how to get it out of Chicago (it was supposed to be delivered on Saturday). It seems like many of you have used the USB input for burn-in (I get it, you don’t want to put unnecessary wear on the transport drive). Does one have to burn-in using PCM and DSD files?
It’s not only USB. I get the flashing blue light once in a while, and I only play cds and sacds. Happens mostly if you start skipping tracks.
And I know I am not the only one, others have reported the same problem.
This bug is really irritating because the unit stops responding to anything and you have to wait until the end of the cd.
The DMP would bug more frequently, but all you had to do was eject and play again.
This needs to be fixed, it’s not ok at this price point.
The sound, however, is amazing, the best transport I have owned, much better than the DMP. Sublime.
At a boy Phil !!!
1000% correct !! I added one word in caps and quotes
@tony22 Perhaps the engineering team or Service guys have heard of this before. Since I mainly work on the sales side I don’t hear of all the things that may be going on. Certainly feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll get it over to the Service guys and have them reach out to you, kevin@psaudio.com
I have been having extensive issues with the PW SACD. I’ve sent a couple of messages to support but no replies so far. Initially tracks were skipped. That was solved with a firmware update. When I attempted to update to 2.31 I couldn’t connected via wired connection or wifi even though the internet connection was clearly working. After updating manually to 2.31, I can no longer use the player. The tray will not stay closed to play a disc. If I close it, it reads (whether or not a disc is present) then the tray opens again. I have tried a factory reset but this does nothing. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any suggestions. Thanks.
Are you still having problems and communicating without results to us? Hopefully this has been resolved. Email me directly if you’re not getting a response from PS Audio.
Welcome @myrnaloy !
A frustrating situation, certainly. I hope they can get you up and running soon.
@Phil What FW version are you running? With older versions of the code, the software was more susceptible to locking up. I know the others that have commented saying it’s only happened a few times and they are running the latest.
@myrnaloy This one is completely new to me. Specially having it seemingly triggered after updating to 2.3.1. You should send emails directly to tjt@psaudio.com and marks@psaudio.com. These are the two guys that will decide what steps are best to get you up and running again.
I am running 2.3.1.
How often is this happening? Also, how often are you playing from a thumb drive vs playing a disc?
It’s the first time since I updated to 2.3.1, so I am not too concerned, since I am not the only one, just a bit disappointed.
I only play discs, no thumb drives.
PST failure - logo flashing - happened to my PST twice after update to FW2.3.1 - 04/19 and 06/23. (This also happened twice back in 12/27/2020 FW 2.1.6 and 11/23/2020 FW2.1.3)
Happened during the DISK playback, I waited the disk to play to end, and manually pop out the disk and problem solved by main power recycle. According to Barry, “… The blinking logo is an indication the unit has run into a fatal software error, and the only way to recover is by powering off in the back.…”
For me, this just a small inconvenience, PST+ DST still the best!
@Terrence, do you have any more on this reporting from Barry? (I honestly don’t know who Barry is. ) Any further elaboration is appreciated.
BTW, how does the drawer sound for other PST owners? I was surprised when it opens that it makes a good “bang” when it stops open. Like there’s no cushioning in the stop position when the drawer opens.
