Running mine fro a DSD MkI DAC to Vitus RI-101 MkII integrated amp. A good fit, and hard to argue the price.
I replaced Inonoclast UPOCC 4x4 Gen 2 XLRs with Fidelium XLRs. Fantastic upgrade all around. Grimm MU2 to BHK300s. I also use Fidelium Speaker cables, again replacing Iconoclast SPTPC for great results. Silversmith can do a very unique “bi-wire” - single wire from Amp, but it “T’s” off in the middle, with separate run to the Hi and Low posts. Very unique capability with his speaker cables. Much less expensive than 2 cables from Amp, and per Jeffrey, offers better results.
I have the SIlversmith Fidelium Speaker Cables and find that they loose a bit of definition in comparison to other cables I have on hand. Leading edge on transients is softened, and decay tails are diminished for example. I have not decided if they are here to stay or if I will put them on the MarketPlace. They do fill out the bottom end a bit better that Iconoclast. My tried and true Nirvana SC get the job done with out messing up. IMO it is a matter of amplifier to speaker synergy.
I have been reluctant to post my impressions on my Fidelium ICs as I have never been exposed to cables in this price class before and I don’t really feel qualified to make comparisons but here goes.
Until I experienced these I had no idea how colored all my previous cables were. My first pair seemed to change significantly with break in my second pair not so much. Without a frame of reference I can’t really say how neutral these are but they impress me as being what I feel are absolutely neutral in what I would expect neutral to sound like. No small feat. At times I felt they were a bit forward in the lower treble but that impression disappeared with a slight change in listening position. Initially I thought they were a bit light in bass but that disappeared with further break in. No, they sound absolutely neutral.
Neutrality is not their main claim to fame though. To me it’s what they do to the soundstage that makes these special. This was evident from the first time I plugged them in. Individual voices or instruments are depicted as separate entities surrounded in their own space left to right front to back. Everything is presented as I imagine the artist intended. I’m sure timing has a lot to do with this. Of course the effect is dependent on the quality of the recording itself but it seems to be present more than I’ve ever heard before.
I could go on and on about the magic these cables provide but you get the general idea. Bottom line is these bring out levels of quality performance, especially on the digital side, that were hidden by all the previous cables that I have used. I was always reluctant to spend this kind on money on mere cables before I heard these. Now I realize that my system was hamstrung by the cables I was using and I had no idea just how good it was. Dollar for dollar the best investment I could have made.
One last thing- the magic disappeared if I added a lower quality cable to the chain. You have to be prepared to go all the way or just forget the whole thing.
Fidelium XLRs are incredible bargain, and they sound as neutral as any ICs I have tried in my system. They are, in my system, better than their highly rated speaker cables on SQ naturalness and solidity.
I will order another pair soon because the next level that I was thinking of will be well over $10k. Even at that level I do not think anyone can tell the difference in a blind test, so I will stop chasing and be done with ICs.
Does anyone have a pricing sheet for XLRs? I thought I saw 975 for first meter and not sure what extra for each meter after.
4.5’ is $1,125, and 6’ is $1,200 plus shipping. Jeff still has not put them on the website yet, and I am not sure why.
Is a 1 meter length XLR available?
Yes, $975. That’s what I got. I have two pair now.
Seems like they are very fair on lengthening their cables. $225 / M.
I got pricing as $975/3 ft and $1125/4.5 ft. Doesn’t seem Jeff prices in metric, but maybe he’d throw in those extra inches!
Having both my experience as well. The XLR cables are fine and a bit of a bargain. The speaker cables are pretty good, but in my system I seek a more balanced presentation.
Could someone post a photo of one please, or even better, the pair, just to see what they look like?
(From above, it looks like they aren’t on the website yet.)
Thanks, the connectors look very high quality and the overall look of the interconnects look great.
Commensurate with the sound, I’m sure.
@weedeewop don’t mean to put you on the spot, but I’m putting you on the spot, lol. Can you elaborate on what you like regarding Fidelium interconnect? (sound quality)
Not talking to me but I can throw my two cents in- open detailed dynamic sound. Never really understood when others used adjectives like involving but this cable has that in spades. Expressive or intuitive would be another way to put it. The better the quality of the signal the more this cable struts its stuff.
you’re encouraging me to spend money on interconnect…
Unfortunately, if you bought one Jeff wouldn’t give me a kickback or free cable or anything.
A fine shade of black….
Seriously, I find it to be tonally neutral, with no editorializing, which my Iconoclast XLR UPOCC does. It is somewhat fast without being etched, gritty or hazy. I would not describe it as organic, more energized. If you had a preamp with balanced capabilities I’d be happy to have you borrow mine for a spell, but cj just doesn’t do the balanced thing. It might inject a bit of zip into your primary system.
Jeffery has planned on providing for an RCA version, I suggest you reach out to him and see if a pair is available for audition.
I will add, the Audience Front Row XLR is still on my mind, and it would be a pleasure to compare the two in my system.
EDIT:
I am certain had I paid Jeffery more than $995 for the pair, say $19,950, I’d enjoy them all the more.
