First music of the day

A cool morning, it’s early, eerily quiet and still. I love living off the beaten path.

Starting off with another disc from “Enjoying the Ride,” the most recent Grateful Dead big box set.

Oakland Coliseum Arena, Oakland, CA (12/27/89) (disc 3)

Next, revisiting this second disc from the band Artemis.

The air having a significant blue tinge to it this morning implies yet another poor air quality day in Central Wisconsin. At sunrise our air quality was at 118. A high atmosphere cleansing rain would be most appreciated. Started the day off with Cal Tjader Sextet Ginza, featuring Stan Getz. Following u with the Cal Tjader LP Latin Kick. Tjader fits the West Coast Cool Jazz thing in my book, bordering on an evening cocktail hour vibe.

I’m in temporary possession of a Shunyata Omega 20amp power cord.
I’ve been comparing it powering my P20 to my Audience FR Reserve.
This is the perfect album to use. What great sound this has across the range; bass, drums, piano.

Great test album and two good cords to try out.

A cool morning punctuated by the sound of the garbage trucks in the neighborhood. Squeezing in some listening before going off to the car dealer. . . .

Pulled this one off the shelf as I was in a rather nostalgic mood. Love the naivety and optimism of CSN&Y Four Way Street.

Sneaking a few listens in this cool morning before I have to go back to the dealership with my car.

Starting off with the expanded Charles Mingus “The Carnegie Hall Concert–Deluxe Edition,” Rhino 2 cd set, disc 1–the newly released first part of the concert. The sound is so good!

A reissue truly done right!

Woke up an hour ago with a lot of thoughts in my brain and a to do list that was forefront and had a hard time going back to sleep. So. . . thought I would listen a bit and see if I will get sleepy again.

This is a great late night album. . . and Ms. Horn is always a great musical companion. My two new Verafi Audio products are really shining as they season in. Ah!

Shirley Horn “The Main Ingredient” Verve cd Recorded at Shirley Horn’s home.

On to

Bob Dylan “The Bootleg Series Vol. 14: More Blood, More Tracks” Columbia box set, disc 3

Wow. I have never quite heard Bob’s voice on these discs quite like this. Wow.

Her rendition of “Over the Rainbow” is especially tender — slowed down, introspective, and tinged with longing — transforming the familiar standard into something hauntingly personal.

If you enjoy Norah Jones or Madeleine Peyroux but want something even more atmospheric and orchestral, this album is a perfect fit.
