I’m so sorry, lonson. That’s terrifying and heartbreaking. Glad Lucy is doing better.

Starting the day with Ry Cooder’s ‘The Prodigal Son’ (2018) is an album that mixes old gospel and blues songs with new ones about faith, fairness, and finding hope. The music feels simple and heartfelt, with Cooder’s smooth slide guitar and a calm, soulful sound. Working with his son Joachim, Cooder uses these songs to remind listeners about kindness and doing what’s right, making it one of his most meaningful albums.

In Memory of Stanley Turrentine has been a long time coming as far as Blue Note reissues go, and especially nice as a Tone Poet LP.

Hopefully you both return to normal with ease. What a horrific experience for the two of you. First listen this morning reflects our similar tatses in music. This went in the CD player prior to prepping a cup of morning tea.

A cold rainy morning. Somehow reflective of my moods.

Starting off with David Sanchez “Cultural Survival” Concord Picante cd

I love how Sanchez injects Latin elements into jazz without overpowering jazz elements.

Followed by: Gregory Groover Jr. “Negro Spirituals Songbook, Vol. 2 (The Message)” Jazz Urbane cd

Finally stopped raining, but it may return later this morning. Rained almost the entire day yesterday!

Starting off with a Bill Evans session I haven’t played in a long time, with a steller cast of musicians.

How’s Lucinda?

She’s in pain, we’re trying to manage it well. We’re both. . . saddened by all this.

Now Playing: Leo Kottke – Essential

BLUF: — Pure guitar brilliance from a true original.

Leo Kottke’s ‘Essential’ is a masterclass in acoustic guitar playing. His picking is fast, clean, and full of emotion, turning each song into a little story. The mix of folk, blues, and humor makes this 22-track collection a great listen from start to finish. I keep coming back to this one, and it always reminds me just how good he really is.
