Had a nice night out at an outdoors party thrown by persons Lucinda has not seen in twenty plus years. Couldn’t eat any of the food offered but the weather was perfect and it was nice to meet these new persons.
Starting off a cool morning with “Swedish Jazz All Stars” a nice Dragon cd
Swedish Jazz All Stars “Parisorkestern 1949”
Putte Wickman on clarinet, Reinhold Svensson on piano, Carl-Henrik Norin on tenor, and Arne Domnerus on alto sax and on vocals Alice Babs,
Yesterday I fooled around with isolation feet under my Rega RP3 (with all the Groovetracer mods, the Neo2 controller, and Exact2 cartridge) and this morning playing the final result I’m very happy with the sound.
I’m spinning Duke Elllington Orchestra “Jazz at the Plaza” (my LP copy bought at the time of release) and I love the sound I’m hearing! This is a very dynamic and open sounding LP.
This morning, a cool one, before this afternoon heat! expected 29 Celcius here! Every morning for the next 1100 iTunes Download, I have purchase since the beginning in 2009! I pick one and listen to it with my new MeZe headphone! Comfy Headphone that remind me the first pair of Beyer I could afford and purchase!
rediscovering all my album and class them in a keeper or discard!
This one, is a keeper, but for a long time i discard it, but on headphone! very good and new way to discover the Beatles!
A cool quiet morning. It gets deadly still here on Sunday mornings, the few neighbors around sleeping in.
I tried to start off a day with some Sun Ra but just could not take the out of tune playing of standards and so moved on to a disc from this fantastic packaged Grateful Dead box set, disc 14.
“Pacific Northwest '73–'74: The Complete Recordings”
I followed up with discs 15 and 16 to conclude the show. This show was released as a standalone from the box set. A good show, though the vocals are almost non-existent on about five songs due to technical difficulties.
Since construction vacation started, half the province is on holiday, so we are invaded by tourist all over the place at a running pace, that is crazy for vacation! but hey, when you only took a break for two weeks per year, you don’t want to miss nothing! They will return work more exhausted then when they leave for vacation! Crazy thing for most people! vacation is supposed to relax but they are so anxious about it and drive like nut!
Any everything will cool down for septembre, now that i live in nowhere land, I understand more the song “c’est en septembre” of Gilbert Becaud!
Sonny ClarkThe Art of the Trio, this being a 1980 Japanese pressing. Basically a compilation of 1957/58 45 rpm released songs, also released on CD in 1996 as The 45 Sessions. Subsequent releases include the Art of the Trio Vol. and Vol. 3. The latter I do not own and have not heard. he first two are most enjoyable. I just received an announcement from Blue Note that this will be released September 25 as a Tone Poet double LP.
Had a big thunderstorm last night and it’s gently raining now. Cooled down nicely! I’m starting off with the second “take” of Ascension from this disc received Saturday. Such a powerful work! Over four decades I’ve grown accustomed to it. . . but not bored.
2026 Universal Japan Impulse UHQCD of John Coltrane “Ascension.”
