Nice and cool this morning! Looking forward to a day of my sister and brother-in-law visiting from Virginia. Though I have six sisters-in-law I only have one sister. . . and I miss hanging with her.
The debut album as a leader by this excellent vibes player and composer and band leader.
With Immanuel Wilkins (alto saxophone), Jeremy Corren (piano), Benjamin Tiberio (bass), and Jeremy Dutton (drums), and guest vocals by Gretchen Parlato.
This disc was where I discovered the playing of Immanuel Wilkins, who has become one of my favorite current saxophonists.
I have this on Catalyst Records vinyl, but I’m listening to a new cd reissue on Good Time cd that sounds far cleaner!
I love all the Bartz from this time period–a funkiness that carries me along for the ride. And this one has a Syreeta appearance as well, a good thing.
Yet one more fine set from Dexter Gordon’s Quartet from the Jazzhus Montmartre Denmark circa 1964. All are in especially fine form with Dexter at his peak on this particular set. The quartet includes Jazzhus house drummer Alex Riel, bassist Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson, and pianist Tete Montoliu.
Following up with the 2024 Cohearent Blue Note Classic Reissue Series Hank MobleyWorkout. Sonically improving in a way I like on my system over a 2015 BN LP I also have on hand. Workout is a strong classic Mobley set with Grant Green, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. Hopefully I caught all my pre-coffee typos,
Yesterday never got too hot, and this morning is cool and crisp again. Feels nice and comfortable up here in the listening zone.
I decided to re-spin this disc 4 of the Garcia Band box set. I wish I could remix Jerry’s guitar more present in the mix. . . . but a fun performance by all.
Jerry Garcia Band “Electric on the Eel” 6 cd set, disc 4
As I listen to the North Mississippi All Stars Up and Rolling till shaking off the sand from yesterday’s hike at Kohler-Andrae Dunes. The weather was perfect with a nice breeze off lake Michigan, clouds gracefully drifting by overhead, and temperatures at 73F. Finished up with a negroni and dinner at Blackwolf Run in Kohler. Nice golf course for those that are into that sort of thing.
unlucky/luckily, someone yesterday, cut my electric pole! Police/fireman/city/internet/electricity and all that goes with it gone!
Luckily this morning, I enjoy my new cable from the pole to my home, I was a monster Job, but not sure if they use Monster cable !
All verify and set up and running!
Don’t remember who recommended the Denon StepUp (champagne look) for my 103(but thanks! very accurate match), but it just arrived from Japan after I finish tested all my gear!
Listening and enjoying my HiFi and it so cool outside so I could also use my 300B! Yeah!
