A really nice album to start the day with.
A little quietly as Lucinda is sleeping, though luckily in the downstairs bedroom where she can hardly hear the music when played quietly at all.
Nat Pierce, “Kansas City Memories” Fresh Sound 2 cd set.
Basie-centric in many ways, but pretty as the focus.

A bit on the more contemplative side for Mr. Brotzmann and friends. Peter Brotzmann, Misha Mengleberg, Han Bennink 3 Points and a Mountain. This particular LP was reissued recently on the Cien Fuegos label, and originally released in 1979. Note in addition to the drum kit, Han Bennink doubles on tenor sax and clarinet. A sense of humor offered on this set, with the third cut on the A side, There und Zuruck, being a fine example of the trio’s playfulness, reminiscent of early '70s Art Ensemble of Chicago, specifically A Jackson in Your House.
Last Exit The Noise of Trouble Live in Tokyo. In addition to the “standard quartet” of Sharrock Laswell, Brotzmann, and Jackson, Akira Sakata joins in adding Herbie Hancock on a single track, Help Me Mo, I’m Blind. the B side first track, Blind Willie, takes off with Akiara and Peter going head to head and Laswell/Jackson underpinnings of Ornette Coleman’s Prime Time era.

Possibly as it was overplayed in my college days I rarely listen to the Eagles, much less Hotel California. Thought it time to return to the Eagles.
So much for the Eagles Hotel California, I guess all that exposure in the 70’s did it in for me. I did make it through the first three tracks, wrapping up with Life in the fast Lane. Bill Evans Symbiosis being handy offered up a fine alternative to these ears.

Some dreamy groove oriented fusion jazz from the Phi - Psonics Octava, while I listen to my new component.

RIP Jane.
Yes, RIP Jane. I never quite got into the music she was a part of but boy was she a beauty.
The music was of its time, and not all that remarkable. A beauty indeed.
