Listening at a quiet volume as the rest of the house is asleep but damn this system sounds amazing. Why did I buy another amp (arriving tomorrow) again? FOMO.

I remember those days all to well, starting work at 5:30 AM and getting home between 8:30 and 9:00 pm, only to be on emergent issue phone calls through the night. I liked the work, but the hours were a drag on my health. Retired now. I have a significant gap (1998 - 2012) where I did not listen to music frequently or attend live music events as I’d like to have. Making up for it in my retirement, with laser focus.
This weekend I sat down and bought a handful of tickets to some local shows. When I was done, I was surprisingly happy with myself.

Your good taste is showing brilliantly!
Particularly Waters at Christmas!
We booked “An Ayler Xmas” for early December of this year, a recurring project from Mars Williams. Your John Waters Christmas reminded me of it. Booked it last year for Madison, a sell-out. People didn’t know what to expect. Best explanation I can offer is The Twelve Days of Christmas played with the sensibility of Albert Ayler’s Ghosts in a free wheeling free jazz manner.
That sounds awesome.
I’m still waiting for my SHM-SACD from Japan, held up in customs for some reason.
I’m starting today off with very familiar music as I’m expecting a new amp to arrive this afternoon and I’ll be spinning familiar material from then on for a spell.
This is a particularly nice Mofi LP release. Ze’ev Feldman recommended it at the 2023 Axpona, so downstairs I went to pick-up a copy. Stumbled into a Mofi sale, so I picked up an arm load of Miles Mofi LPs.
I was listening to the SACD which is also a particularly nice MOFI version. One thing I love about this series is that with just one or two exceptions they all use the original mixes. I still prefer the original mixes of these albums to the Wilder remixes.
Agree, they new what they were doing on the original mix.

Wild Up’s interpretation of the under represented Julius Eastman’s music, which falls somewhere between minimalism and avant-garde classical. Wild Up intends to cover Eastman’s music in a series of 7 releases. This CD is well recorded, and a wonderful morning listen. Available on BandCamp from New Amsterdam Records, Ann Arbor, Mi.
Wild Up, Julius Eastman - Joy Boy
Which version? I picked up the Sam Records release recently, a stunner!
