Miki Yamanaka “Human Dust Suite”

I bought this directly from Miki and it was nicely signed personally to me by Miki. I like her work.

Woke up too early, but had a great night out with my family–we don’t get out together often enough. This seemed like a good one to start a cool morning off with.

Finally listened to the new Billie Eilish album in its entirety last night and I was shocked by its quality. Not only was the music material extremely good the sound quality was top notch as well. Available on Qobuz at 44.1/24. This album tells me that all is not lost as far as audiophile quality sound in pop music today. I was particularly interested in the presentation of the midrange. For once, the mids were not presented in that forward and compressed way that seems to be so popular. Depth is exceptional as well. Can’t say enough about this effort.

When interviewed it is apparent she and her brother care.

Enjoying this live from the 1988 Grenoble Jazz Festival quartet set. I believe it is the first time Barney Wilen and Tete Montoliu played together. L’Ames Des Poetes kicks off the LP followed by an interesting interpretation of Round Midnight. This clearly has the sense of a live set with a certain loose approach to the music.

Marisa Monte “Rose and Charcoal” cd

One of my favorite of hers. Up early as ye olde dog was feeling a bit wonky and wanted to tour the back yard earlier than usual. Will try to go back to sleep again in a bit.

This disc sounds really good the way the system is set up lately.

Emily Remler “Firefly” Concord cd

I wish someone would assemble all her Concord work into a cd box set. Come on!

This disc reminds me what great, tasteful drummer Jake Hanna was.

Good post, really enjoyed this!

Elisabeth Harnick, yet another fine release. Recently my focus has been on my vinyl collection so I am missing many excellent new releases. Thank-you for continuing to keep me current.

Her vibe is a great way to start a day. “How Insensitive” with Coryell here is lovely.

Bill O’Connell “A Change is Gonna Come”

Bill’s playing reminds me of Herbie Hancock, not in a derivative way, just stylistically. This is a good one! I have one other of his. … need to get more.
