In the mood for some ole timey music and this hits the spot.

This month when I turn on my stereo in the morning it’s an exciting first few minutes as the sound struts out. The system has never sounded better! Music is a thrilling component of the day.

Right now
“Duke Ellington in the Uncommon Market” OJC cd

Not your typical Ellington concert (actually excerpts of three concerts, one in Sweden, one in Italy, and one in France) of rarely played material. Waking my brain up!

Fascinating box set for those who have been fascinated by Ziggy and the Spiders.

David Bowie “Rock 'n Roll Star” 5 cd and 1 Blu-ray box set. cd 1

On occasion I start my morning listening to WNUR, Northwestern University community radio, more progressive jazz is typically offered. This morning Aram Shelton’s Fast Citizens Two Cities the title track was playing. A fine way to start my day. I continued with my Delmark CD version of the same.

There was no need for the AC unit nor fans last night–and two humans and one dog were very happy about that! A bit muggy this morning but nice!

Starting the day off with two albums from this two cd set, “Conception: the Gift of Love” and “Un Poco Loco,” both Columbia releases.

Followed by

Duke Ellington “Newport 1958” Mosaic Records cd

This Mosaic Single release combines live material with mono studio material. Some wonderful music!

Some great Gonsalves!

I came to Keith Jarrett early in my recorded music exploration. My Song was one that stands out with the European Quartet, Jan Garbarek, Palle Danielsson and Jon Christianson. I am the first to admit Jan’s cool and thin sounding sax it an acquired taste. The opener Questar is continues to move me.

Now DISC 1

Chet Baker “Blue Room–The 1979 Vara Studio Sessions in Holland” Jazz Detective 2 cd set

These were great sessions.
