First music of the day

Tornado ten miles from here Tuesday night. We were lucky–no damage here, we didn’t even lose power, but we lost cable and internet until a half an hour ago. That sucked.

Went into town after the tornado hit in a neighboring town on Tuesday. Some stores are operating off a single generator, a lot of stores still closed, a lot of empty aisles in the grocery store due to food not being refrigerated for a day.

Right now, listening to Raul de Souza “Jazzmim”–not the fiery Raulzinho from decades past, but a nice smooth album.

This one again–quite an interesting session.

Just my opinion, but this particular Wayne Shorter Blue Note release, Adam’s Apple, just doesn’t seem to get the recognition it deserves. It is an exceptional session, one of his best, yes there are many, from the 1960’s. The first cut, Adam’s Apple, is a bright, jouus and soulful romp. Having an Music Matters SRX LP copy pays huge sonic dividends compared to my original as well as a CD version.

I believe Elisabeth will be making a late 2024 appearance in the States. Most likely with Dave Rempis.

The recently released 85th Anniversary UHQCD from Japan, mastered by Mr. Gray, sounds phenomenal.

This seemed appropriate as we prepare our daughter for her relocation to Scotland. She’s off on her next adventure tomorrow for or year or better.

Nice and cool, with acorns falling. I’m not sure I’m ready to let go of summer!

It was a struggle, but I’m so glad I managed to get this amazing time capsule of seminal music sessions years ago.
