First music of the day

Another very cool morning. . . with a bright moon. I wanted to sleep more but Fiona the dachshund had other plans.

Starting off the day with the new cd from the daughter of two of my favorite musicians, Dora Morelenbaum. Her father and mother, Jacques and Paula were instrumental in so much of the Brazilian music I love. Nice, contemporary recording . . . more “MPB” than her parents’ musics but I’m enjoying it.

FOLLOWED BY

Milt Jackson, Joe Pass, Ray Brown “The Big 3” Pablo cd

The Necks - ‘Silverwater’

Another cool morning after a beautiful warm day. Fiona the dachshund is restless. I’m trying to relax. . . .

Joining in on some “organ jazz” fun with the Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD of Baby Face Willette “Face to Face.” Sounds awesome. The system is just amazing me of late.

Baby Face Willette – organ
Grant Green – guitar
Ben Dixon – drums
Fred Jackson – tenor saxophone

Followed by something quite different. . . .

The second live album Blossom released, and the second on Fontana from Ronnie Scott’s club. Just right for this morning!

“Sweet Blossom Dearie” Fontana/Universal Japan lp facsimile SHM-CD

Blossom Dearie - piano, vocals
Freddie Logan - bass
Allan Ganley - drums

Most fitting music for an early rise, Yo-Yo Ma Soul of the Tango Le Grand Tango.

Piazzolla has been a favorite of mine ever since I was introduced to his music in Terry Gilliam’s 1985 film, “Brazil”.

A cool morning, quiet with heavy dew. After so many years in Texas, I love this weather deeply.

Even switched on cold the system is sounding better than ever!

Right now
Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette “Somewhere” ECM cd

The lake as a sheet of glass the morning. In the early stillness a pair of adult eagles continue teaching the their two young the art of fishing.

Finished doing some cd maintennce (putting discs by the same artist in slimline double jewel cases). It’s warm in the house this morning, we’re nearing the end of Indian Summer. Fiona the dachshund is very sleepy. She’s getting older by the day. Me too.

Right now
Grateful Dead “Friend of the Devils: April 1978” box set, the nineteenth and final disc. Making my way through a long “Drums”. . . .

Followed by

Bobby Hutchderson “Total Eclipse” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD

This is one title in the seriese that is decidedly improved. Sounds very good.

Around here the eagles must teach their young how to imtidate osprey into dropping fish they have caught and steal their fish–that is what happens most on our lake.

A bit warmer this morning than last though it will be a cooler day.

The leaves on the thousands of trees around our home have become beautiful. . . and have started to fall in droves. I dread the bare trees ahead. . . snow will make them beautiful again.

Starting off with one of the discs that arrived Tuesday from Japan.

Herbie Hancock “The Prisoner” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD

I’ve slowly begun to admire this recordings more and more as time goes by. A very good Rudy Van Gelder recording as well.

Yesterday I got in another set of Stack Audio EQ isolation feet and replaced the VooDoo Cable IsoPods under my PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter with the new set.

A subtle improvement in spatial presentation and a slightly clearer low frequency response. I really love these “feet”! One more set, to go under my turntable, is probably in my future.

Right now enjoying Santana “Welcome” Columbia LP.

Leon Thomas as vocalist is a PLUS.

Got the notice regarding this release earlier in the week, and recent distraction resulted in my forgetting all about it. A fan of Terje since his Odyssey ECM release, and Elephant 9 since… well….
Thanks for posting :grinning:

Hopefully this will shake a morning fog, not weather related.

Windows wide open letting in the perfect weather, volume at slightly inconsiderate level.

A treasure trove of classic recordings arrived here yesterday. Man, for a jazz fan like me this is a real joy of a reissue.

The first disc is a real thrill: Bunk Johnson, a reconfiguration of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Sidney Bechet and the famous “Midnight Session” with Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden and so many other jazz stars.

Sound is fantastic!

“Classic V-Disc Small Group Jazz Sessions” Mosaic Records, 11 cd set, disc 1

The LP where I learned to love the “Midnight at V-Disc” session and to love Pops and Mr. T.

On to

Side 2 of this LP again. . . I was distracted by a “honey do” yesterday during the playback of this side. Sounds so good this morning!
