Unlike you, @joma0711, I’m not in the “black web”. What I see is the forum page heading in bold black print obscuring …HOME. SHOP. SUPPORT. THE HI-FI FAMILY.
Ach websites suck.
Nice to know it’s not just us fans of the dark side suffering the eye-strain though
one last kick of the horse…every site that uses this forum software (ex. Roon, HiFi Rose) uses the company logo in the top left to bring you to the forum home page and not their commercial page. It used to work that way on this site using dark mode. Now the PSA log brings you to the commercial page, yuck.
This was deliberately changed in regular mode many months ago to the logo bringing one to the website’s main home page.
yes, I remember…yuck. Hard to imagine anyone having a tough time finding the commercial site but I don’t pay the bills, just expressing an opinion.
the other issue is it seems not to save my preference choices. For example, if I set to dark mode theme and never hit refresh it holds, if I hit refresh (or close and re-open) it is back to the default “center of the sun bright” theme
Navigation is “broken”.
Can’t get back to forum categories like “latest” conveniently - have to exit to main page and navigate to “family” and then to forum; and then to categories and then to latest.
I trust work to restore functionality is still ongoing (?). (@jamesh)
on iphone se2 the “burger” menu has the forum navigation options which helps a bit.
(3 horizontal lines = burger menu)
Not really…still a multi-step process to reorient and grab the categories of choice…
prob with that is if the forum is “installed as a desktop web app” which we had to do on ithings to avoid safari weirdness, clicking the blue blob (muscle memory for forum top!)
it then opens safari to display main site so takes you away from the forum web app completely, plus it doesn’t fit with std usage of the forum software (as mentioned above)
Time to listen to music and not worry about a kludgy web platform, just my thoughts. After all aren’t we really here for the music?
If I click the home button on the top left, it takes me to the main page of the forum. I don’t need to do multiple clicks to get there.
You do if you’re on a phone. Hamburger, drop down menu, home….plus the hamburger is often hidden behind misplaced menu text.
Try clearing your cache and cookies. The site should be working fine now. Let us know.
Someone had inqired how to get back to Dark Mode. This may be helpful:
From your profile select Preferences:
Next select Interface, and scroll down to Color Schemes and toggle Theme Default.
We could do with a list of domains to clear cookies from (i.e. psaudio.com plus whatever other domains resources are pulled in from) - ain’t no way I’m clearing my entire cache and current cookies - I’d have to re log in to at least 20 different tabs again all over the web
Ha just also noticed (again in dark mode) on the desktop browser site the burger menu is on the right hand side and has links to forum stuff, whereas on the mobile site it’s on the left with a different set of links.
Websites are hard. Really hard. At least, they are if you want them to be logical and internally consistent.
(something which so very few sites get right).
n.b. I wouldn’t know where to start now, the last time I did it we were using tables to create symmetrical layouts
The Blue logo on the screen, on my iPhone takes me to the PSA home page not the forum home page.
FYI/Thanks,
Scott
