Question about running an Auralic Aries G1 Streamer through different DAC’s. I have tried the Aries G1 through the Gain Cell DAC coax input and also through the coax input on a Simaudio Moon 260D. The Moon is connected to the GCD through balanced XLR analog cables. I have the volume disabled on the Aries so that volume is only controlled with the GCD. The Aries plays much louder through the GCD at say volume level 10 or 15 than it does through the Moon coax input at the same volume level on the GCD. They both sound good and I would prefer to run the Aries directly through the GCD input but I prefer a slower graduation in getting to louder volumes.
Does anyone have an explanation why this would be the case?
