I would love to put my Dragon back in on something other than Home Theater duties if I could but a DDC Between the Bacch4Mac and DS MK2 was causing the Bacch dSP software to have crashes that only Edgar could iron out. But I will say that Bacch with Inakustik Referenz USB is killing it with Roon Radio and helping me not notice the pain from knee surgery this morning.
The Surgery center finally released me at 4PM after giving me every prescription and OTC pain & Muscle Relaxer med in drug cocktail combinations with nerve block, they could that wouldn’t make me unconscious or dead
So BACCH is the God I am worshiping instead of Bacchus the Roman God of wine to take my pain away. Meanwhile on round the clock alarms so meds stay active which means round clock streaming . But not regretting the upgrades and tweaks with my music systems. Downside I could have bought four Dragon or an amazing Stealth ower cord with what surgeon and surgery center made me pay In deductibles before admission.
Oh, I forgot your health problem, and please get well soon! We want you to be healthy and happy!
Dragon for HT? that for sure is not an effective use for it. Inakustik is great, whether it is USB or ethernet. It is truly a great bargain!
Bacch is your new God now! I may try it one day, but I am so happy with mine already, and I do not want to find out any weakest in my system, yet. If I hear a bit of issue, a glass of wine would cure it easy
My wife just asks me what did I do to the system again? I asked what is wrong with it? She said it “lacks the soul”! Wow, what a way to describe an audio system.
So, I changed back to grounding inputs, lifting both Ground and Shell. She said 5 minutes later “Don’t change anything now!”.
I hate to admit it, but the live band entered the room again! The music gained 5% weight seems, and the layers are more realistic. Or simply magic has reappeared.
Is it possible the dumbbell of Sigma is doing all the cleanup work, that I do not need additional isolation anymore? With I2S I know the current setup does not sound good, but with topline USB cables it is a different story.
Everyone’s streaming chain is different. I can’t figure why Galvanic isolation would not sound better than worse. You should sneak the Stealth T select USB. back in then see what she says with stealthy input ground lift change. Since she wouldn’t know when or what you did. If it gets better again for her. Welcome new Stealth owner says @aangen.
According to Caelin the TAP module has a significant effect and the improved one on the Omega even more so. The same scheme you are using for the Sigma should apply to it also.
The latest TAS Editor’s choice gave a high mark on this cable and said it may be the most outstanding product Shunyata has produced. I am sure it will be my endgame cable, and I am really looking forward to using it in my system.
You already know I’m frying… I’m enough in trouble with room refurbishment otherwise Omega, Sablon and Stealth would be my recurring thoughts during last nights. Until a new Dragon arrives on this crazy planet to spit fire on our USB sockets!
Thanks Luca. The first 4 to 6 weeks after the nerve block and good drugs wear off are a challenge with pain and initial physical therapy . But worth it not by not suffering loss of cartilage and bone ends rubbing and aching constantly.
Having had one I know what to do and not to do. Plus new amp, DAC, and 3D music as the diversion. Having done house remodel at beginning of pandemic my leg reconstruction is easier than your music room. Probably less costly too. But you will get gratification like me maybe more.
The 20 something RN today said you’re pretty young to be a joint replacement though I did have a guy 43 years old last week. So I said, How was he in bed?
I did not really ask her that. But it crossed my mind. But what good is an old man if he can’t think that.
I just hope I am still young enough not to have a child your age with you talking about your dad having similar issue. Lol I feel lucky though to have such options and not be gimping about forever with a limp.
Ah ah ah my wife always says that I was already old when I was young! Can’t wait for retirement since my school time!
How long is still the light at the end of my tunnel!
But I’m happy and nowadays this is the fortune guys!
I did go back to Stealth T-select again. The grounding inputs and lifting both Output and Shell still win in my system, although I had a tough time to tell. But again, my wife likes it better.
Also, she still likes Stealth T-select the best. Well, Omega and I have work to do.
Now I have been listening to T-select and Sigma for one week (Base is in the mailing box already), and I am getting quite familiar with their sound. The Sigma has a lower noise floor, and listening to it with Classical music is just beautiful. T-select has a better midrange, especially on vocals. The ring does its magic and I do not think there is a USB cable that can beat its midrange.
I have two more days before I must ship them back. When I went back to AQ Firebird48 I2S, I heard grey background that I did not know existed. I could really hear these cable differences. Ted did a wonderful job on making the USB as good as I2S on MK2 (probably all inputs are equal now).
Now I use USB input for the streamer and I2S 1 input for PST, I checked my ground and lift settings on MK2. I had all inputs grounded except the two I2S inputs. So, I played with different setups. I found with USB the SQ is better when input is lifted, and I also kept I2S 1 lifted (PST) and ground all other inputs. By the way, each change took 15 minutes for me to hear the change better. it could be due to my slow brain reaction.
I like the SQ a little better when lifting output but grounding the shell. So, I will stay with this setting. With my new USB cable, the sound is a bit more open with the setup. I have not turned-on PST yet so I do not know if another adjustment is needed later.
So far, I can live with all grounded, all digital inputs lifted, and all lifted. With just the active input lifted, usb in my case, something sounded off, like something is out of phase, like someone swapped half of the polarity of one of my speakers… if that’s even possible.
Haven’t tried the shell lift yet. too many freakin varibles lolz.
I think it would be a good idea if PSA could figure out how to configure the lifts/grounds based on the selected input. For instance, in my playing with this so far, my I2S1 sounds best with ground lifted, but nothing else (including output) lifted. OTOH, the same is true for I2S2. So, if the MkII could know when I switch to I2S2, to re-enable the ground on I2S1, that would be really helpful.
