Gryphon PowerZone the hype is real!

Well I thought I’d get this thread rolling because I believe it’s going to catch fire!

@aangen is not exaggerating I can confirm in less then an hour with a PowerZone 3.20 using only 4 outlets tonight. It’s a revelation for those who understand “Sakra Level” maybe we should call it Sakra+ level!

Here is some pics I took of the PZ unboxing.

The PowerZone crate next to a SR Black Box.

Unit shipping in plastic and its velvet bag/cover.

Front and back of the 3.20 PowerZone. The 3.20 needs two 20a cables for use of all 8 outlets the 3.10 has 8 outlets and only 1 20a cable is required. The chassis are identical in size and appearance.

More to come!

Oops one pic is a on there twice! Forgive me.

Silly question: if you power only one IEC inlet with a C19 power cord, are you able to use just the 4 related sockets independently from the other IEC inlet? As if you had 2 separate PZs working in one single chassis?

Yeah. The 3.20 is exactly that, two banks of four, separately powered. Half on one end, the other on the other end. No inlet power, four sockets dead. So if you could get away with four, just power one side until you need more.

If I don’t have Gryphon amp or other power-hungry Class A, PZ 3.10 is plenty, but the question is does 3.20 sound better?

I have no idea how they do it differently, but Gryphon makes some amazing stuff. Expensive, yes, but in the scope of things, worth the price tag.

The simplest description right now “Baach like”

with no Baach! Separation and space around the musicians is unexplainable. Clarity and detail is the best I’ve heard. I was listening to Harry Belafonte Scarlet Ribbons (I was going to say last night🤦🏻‍♂️) this morning and it’s live there is some audience coughing in the background throughout the track. The coughing sounds as if it’s in the room it is down right scary and amazing at the same time!

My understanding from discussing with Anthony is the PZ 3.10 should be sufficient for most audiophiles. The PZ 3.20 comes in handy when trying to service high current mono-blocks.

Time to arrange for a Group Buy. At best we may get moved up on the waiting list. Ha!
Any thoughts of an additional Power Plant or Puritan PSM 156 have vanished.

You are correct! Rune Skov said at Axpona the single cable 3.10 will power a Gryphon Commander, Ethos, and a stereo 485lb Apex amplifier with no issues. I’m going out on a limb but I assume a single Apex draws more current that most if not all (non Gryphon) mono block amplifiers.

If it runs short one can always buy a second.

Group discount? You mean a discount on the dealer markup, and moving in front of waiting list, right?

Discount is doubtful, but possibly a bit of priority treatment. My guess is Gryphon USA protects their dealers, just a hunch.

You absolutely can not run all the gear you listed on a single 20 amp input. There is no way.
The 3.10 has one magic box inside. The 3.20 has two. They sound exactly the same, one just handles twice the current as the other. It’s very simple stuff.

Rune told me with the Apex I needed the top model. It is working fine.

It used to be the top compliment I could give is that something was a Stealth Sakra V17 LE level of change. Now the top compliment is a PowerZone level of improvement.

I hope it stops there.

I want this thread shut down  do you guys know how much you’re costing me this year alone …

What I heard in Munich always knew I would have to look at this in the future looking forward to what @aangen @paul172 and others are finding

Did you try the PowerZone fed by a stock (courtesy) power cord? I’d like to know if it is immune or not from the cable used to power itself.

It does not ship with any power cord.
Besides, you know the answer to that question already.
